Changes to Purchasable Game Time Options

What totally baffles me is that apparently not a single person with decision making power thought

“Whatever benefit this action will bring might be overshadowed by the negative perception and reaction it will incur. Perhaps we should NOT do this?”

Trying to keep Dragonflight’s numbers well padded to fool their shareholders.

Or did you think enticing you with a giant murloc mount with a 12-month instant tap to your credit card was because they wanted to make you happy?

Hurray, less options!

I’m not sure why this was even an applicable change, warranting no forbearance to the company whatsoever. Having this option for your valued customers costs, what I am sure, close to nothing, so forcing your players into a 60 purchase or a subscription is completely wild, unwarranted and unasked for by the players who keep you in business. Review or not, this was an unneeded change that hinders your everyday player from choosing what they want. Absurd. Sincerely, a 19 year long warcraft fan.

This guy is really going back. The post is from 2021!

They just wanted to guide more people into recurring. There’s no practical difference for people with a strong preference for buying game time for 30 days at a time. Just click sub then immediately click unsub. You get your 30 days at 30 day price without recurring. They added a couple extra click for those with extremely specific needs. I think it was all a bit silly, but it doesn’t really boil down to anything noteworthy.

I’d wait until the sub actually bills. Subscribing and immediately unsubscribing preemptively cancels the subscription.

I’ve been paying for the game since Wrath prepatch this way .

365 day option only soon

I’ve done that many, many times and I haven’t had it cancel the subscription it just charged me for.

Your two years late to the controversy dude.

That’s great, good for you. There’s no harm in waiting an hour or two, a day or two, or even a week or two.

I’m simply cautioning others who may do this to wait long enough to be sure the charge goes through. Canceling while the transaction is pending cancels the pending transaction. Canceling after the transaction is complete cancels the subsequent recurring transaction.

I am now on benefits, my monthly budget varies. I cannot subscribe because I have to watch every penny. Since I cannot purchase 30 days at a time, and since I don’t play enough to make enough for a token, I simply cannot play. This in my opinion is a stupid pointless change and I am guessing that you lost a few subscribers with this idea. Sadly I cannot play in a day or two. Oh well!

Very nice. I took notice of this right this moment when I was looking to send someone a gift for 30 days. I remember there being much more flexibility all the way up to 6 months when I did this a few years ago. This time they got nothing.

Did they not reply to a post like this saying something along the lines of:

“But somebody did ask. We did. We wanted this to happen!”
