People that buy 30 days of game time are going to use sub time even if they cancel right after.
Iâm annoyed with this but I donât know that I will completely cancel.
People are always angry at Blizz and yet here they are still angry at Blizz. Itâs meaningless. More people leave from boredom than anger.
People paying for a 30 month sub looks better even if itâs not recurring. They can still say X amount of people subbed and may even be able to call them new subs if people cancel each time.

You know those WoW Game Time Cards (you would see in stores) with a Code on the back of them? And, you punch in those numbers in the âredeem codeâ section to âclaimâ your âGame Timeâ? Thatâs âGame Timeâ. IDK what the âelectronical versionâ of it would be. I only know how to describe the physical format of it.

A Sub doesnât require an extra code to input. Just an electronic payment.

More likely economic warfare against casuals who may pay for a month now and then. Now they must pay for 2 months at a pop, if they still want to play.
Two reasons I can think of for this change:
- The quarterly numbers are going to look really bad without a temporary spike like theyâre imagining this will produce.
- Players have bad news coming up, possibly some new feature or change that is planned to help elites but hurt the majority of non-elites.
I have 5 accounts, one of which subscribes monthly, and 4 which I pay gold for monthly gametime. No way am I going to pay $75 to subscribe monthly like this dude wants me to. Itâs pretty clear when you look and see that this is the ONLY person on the forum supporting this where heâs coming from.

I donât agree with this change at all so I hope you didnât get that impression. I think the only reason to do a change to payment and access methods (at least one like this) is to help themselves.

Blizz, honey, baby, I know youâre trying to make money and I realize most of the posts here are just toxic people being toxic because âblizzard bad, look what they did again!â so let me just be real with you:
This is a dumb decision. Frankly this decision isnât going to make you any money compared to just leaving the sub structure the way it already was. Why you may ask? Because:
1. I buy my friends WoW time whenever we first start playing again and while I can afford 30 dollars to buy two of my friends WoW time, I cannot afford to pay sixty and Iâm not leaving my debit card attached to anyoneâs account but my own for a sub.
- You are making it harder for your poorer players to keep playing either through cost or sheer annoyance. Is your sub still monthly? or is it bi-monthly now too? If still monthly the only thing youâre doing is making me go through the hassle of subbing, getting on my settings and unsubbing, wasting five extra minutes of everyoneâs time. Otherwise youâre costing people more money when some can only afford a month here or there.
3. I like to test the water sometimes. Frankly bad decisions are sometimes made regarding the game, and during some of the worse times I donât particularly want to play. When you fix those issues I tend to resub even if I donât intend on playing because I like to show support for the decisions that are in favor of long time players like myself (This account is from cata, but I myself have been playing since BC)
But while Iâll take a look at your content for $15 before deciding on such a sub, it is absolutely not worth it to waste $30 of my money to see if you were listening to your players. (At least the helpful ones, not the toxic screaming childrenâŚ)
- People are going to quit in protest. This change doesnât benefit anyone, but I can see how some executive probably thought doing this would increase sub counts. Heâs wrong. In fact, I am one of these people. Despite the fact I havenât been playing the last few months I have kept my sub going because I thoroughly enjoyed shadowlands as long as I played it. It is a wonderful step up from BFA and I hope you keep it up, but if this is how youâre going to handle our subs now frankly Iâm dropping mine to help the shifting paradigm show you this is ridiculous. Your price goes up, the number of subs goes down. This is simple math and the only thing idiot executives understand, but only when they see it happen. absolute zero foresight.
And so with that, my sub is gone and I will likely not be restoring itâs status until either I actually feel like playing again or you decide to revert this change. Youâve lost my support with this one, guys. Hope you change your mind.

Interesting. The Electronic Version would be through the Shop, under âServicesâ, Iâm assuming but because I pay a Sub, myself, I donât get that option LOL

You can still resub for just 1 month.
But yeah you can only gift your friends in 2 months, that part your right on
but if you wanna âjust try the patchâ you still can. for 15$
If I canât play with my friends and family because I canât gift them 1 month anymore whatâs the point in playing at all though?

Thatâs not the point. The point is that every company in existence knows that when you force people into ârecurringâ subscriptions, many people either forget to cancel or donât out of laziness. The company will always make more money in the long run.
This move is forcing people into recurring if they canât afford to add more than 30 days at a time.
