It’s not a deterrent at all. It is trivially easy to bypass if they tried to implement something like this. Here’s a 2 word clue that you can throw into google: “vagrant up”. If the client was attempting to fingerprint the system it is running on and create a hardware id/hash based on that, it would only impact people who don’t bot or bot casually. If you are thinking of network based identification, that simply won’t work at all. VPNs are a thing and the blizzard servers will never see a player’s MAC address (that’s the whole point of a routable protocol like TCP/IP).
