"Censor Messages" The word Censor is of poor taste

You might want to try a different dictionary.

What a flower system.

This is outrage culture at its most farcical.

Oh and Machine Learning uses censoring as well. Both for the same reasons as statistics uses it and to prevent another sending coupons for maternity stuff to underaged girls fiasco from happening again.

Angry Father: Hey why are you sending my little girl coupons for diapers and baby formula!!
AI: Because your little girl is knocked up…

What about people with pollen allergies? We won’t stand for these microaggressions!

(I’m being facetious for anyone who can’t figure it out.)

No one does that, haha, that’s just silly.

He didn’t specify what type of flower as there are quite a lot of non windblown pollen flowers. Typically stuff in the Lily, hydrangeas, and rose families.

Specifics are meaningless in my quest for forced outrage.

Maybe but my ponderous penchant for pedantic behavior won’t allow any trivialities to persist!

Idk about repulsive, but blame Wowhead.

I say we blame ancient Rome. They can’t argue.

They can’t argue, but you’re supposed to do as they do. Idk, man.

Mayonnaise is also a disgusting word.

I love mayonnaise.

Yeah, I’m an old white dude.

Sorry.

I like this idea.

Because then I’d censor “git gud” and never have to hear similar BS like that ever again.

That is one way that censorship is USED, but it is not the ONLY use.

"Censorship

  1. the suppression or prohibition of any parts of books, films, news, etc. that are considered obscene, politically unacceptable, or a threat to security."

“Obscene” would include prohibitions against mature language in radio programs, TV broadcasts, and video game chat.

“Politically unacceptable” would be things like suppression of information by dictatorial governments, like what you described.

“Threat to security” would be things like the redaction of classified information.

ALL of those things are censorship, but not all of them are bad.

The amount of people upset by this is kind of baffling.

The “right” to be unpleasant and nasty in chat does not supercede my “right” to ignore it.

Me “filtering” or “muting” someone is a lot nicer than me having to tell them to shut up. More effective, too.

I deal with the public enough that some days when I get home, I don’t really want to hear anyone’s crap.

It’s as easy as deciding “Hmm. You know, I don’t feel like using any of my limited energy on this. Nah.”

i hope they censor you into the dirt op

Not always. Censorship doesn’t have to be violent to be censorship. Censorship can (for example) simply be removing books from library shelves.

I agree that filter =/= censor.

Pollen for damn sure is a micro-aggression. I missed my regular allergy medicine yesterday and those tiny bastiges are tearing me up today.
