It’ll be fine, I’ve been healing without addons for 21 years.
The base game raid frames are actually pretty good. I would love to ditch ElvUI and use the base game for frames and bars, and it’s almost there, but not quite.
They’ve made a lot of improvements, but the base game additions are not ready. They’re still incomplete and insufficient for basic mouseover healing on any spec with more than 36 active abilities (RDruid has 53).
From what I understand, addons which read real time combat information won’t work. Addons which customize your UI aren’t going to be broken so you should be fine.
Feels like people don’t understand the addon changes
Considering the level of Blizzard’s “communications” on the subject…can you blame us???
Word is Break Timers are going away. So feel free to explain to me how that’s a “Combat” thing…
Some don’t, but the official word has left some vague and grey areas which is unacceptable with an announcement like this. It deserves an entire presentation video for clarity to the player base.
ElvUI is fine, we think, but some of its features are a question mark.
Clique is fine, we think, but the base game’s copycat feature is missing some of Clique’s capabilities, and all posts on the bug report and GD forums about those missing or broken features have been ignored by the blues. Ex. The exclusion of cleanse spells in the Click Casting feature. Multiple people have asked about it since its implementation in 2024, and I have yet to see an official answer to any of those inquiries.
They have not been clear, and they refuse to communicate, and the entire thing is very half-done and unprofessional.
Click casting is fine and should be well implemented by the base UI.
Having it make decisions is not fine.
I mean Ive never had to know half this stuff to do my job before because it wasnt an issue for 20+ years of wow’s existing. ( healbot literally has existed forever )
Why do I need to know about API’s and codes and what can or cant be done on the addons side? They clearly wanted to go after WA and other addons like that. Why cant they be more open about which addons are the problem and communicate better?
If I can still use these addons to bind and use my spells there wont be a problem. If I cant and the base UI isnt literally the same thing and is still as terrible as when TWW came out - I am done. No way I am going OUTSIDE of the game to learn how to write up mouseover and/or help/harm macros for everything.
The current click casting options in the default UI and mouseover macros are fine. If anything they should have a better “build a macro” UI to simplify the process, but what is in-game already works.
I hope so. They failed almost entirely when they tried this in TWW Beta.
This was something that didn’t ever happen. Maybe in like 2005 but this hasn’t been a thing in literally forever. ( heck I dont think I even remember this being a thing back in Cata when I started )
Nah there are things you still need to make macros for to add them into this. It does not “work” - assuming it lets you work around like that
I’ve been using Clique for years. It lets you assign click-casting actions to basically any relevant frame on your ui. So it works with the default raid frames…but I have no idea if it will continue to function in Midnight.
What gets me about this is that if I want something as simple as “show raid frames while solo” I have to >also< use an addon for that. Since apparently that’s a game-breaking feature that gives me an unfair advantage over default ui users. And I also have no idea if that will continue to function in Midnight, either. This is all fantastic.
So it doesn’t perform a different action based on different player states? Because to me that would be making decisions. I am not super familiar with the addon
You don’t seem to be paying attention. Addon devs are going on the alpha and testing, and finding that the addons CANNOT work or even be made to work at a reduced level. That’s what the Vuhdo author said.
There is already click casting in base UI? Or do you mean something else?
Nope. You bind say Flash Heal to Shift+left click, when you click on that persons name it uses flash heal on them. ( so you dont have to write up an overcomplicated macro or manually target them first and then click the spell )
It makes absolutely no decisions for you, it’s just a way to bind abilities to a bunch of different alt/shift/ctrl clicks. No different than binding things to 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8, etc
An extremely long time ago healbot could auto up/downrank iirc but that was it and that hasnt been a thing for like ever since vanilla. Even then tbh it was kinda pointless to use that when you only had a few ranks you did use. Was never a thing from when I started healing from mid Wrath to now.
Again for like the fifth time in this thread alone:
This isnt good enough. Merryweather has a write up if you care to educate yourself. The base ui doesnt have enough modifiers for every binding even after the pruning, you cant use alternate buttons other than the L,M,R buttons, and it still didnt work with a good portion of abilities when I tried to use it. I stil had to go out of my way to make more macros and such to work around it and plug them in, some things just didnt work with it.
People should do just that. It’s the only feedback that will get back to them.
/cast [@mouseover] spell
not that difficult
Yeah lemme just go make one of these for every ability, some with more complex help, harm macros, and then relearn all new set of key bindings.
The adults are talking here. Clearly you don’t heal so just stop.
I have my ‘flash heal’ type spells bound to Left Mouse Click on every class that has that sort of thing. So I mouseover a frame, click, my character casts, with no other input required from me. Explain how I do that with a macro please.
You don’t need new keybindings, just make the macros… It’s not rocket science. As far as I understand, Clique is still working for mouse keybinds
