Catering to casuals has effectively ruined class design in this game

I mean, most of your post shows that having a GCD wouldn’t be that big of a deal because, as you stated, in different situations you might only use a few of those power-ups.

Also, though, I can’t think of hardly any instances where a raider (high end raider) wouldn’t burst everything during the OPTIMAL window. The math gets out of control when you stack everything during those “windows” and it’s always better to push damage in that phase.

Pruning has been a well admitted failure to this game in recent expansions, many many people agree.

It’s just hilarious how all these people jump on Bluebarz as if he somehow personally attacked them.

As a casual bad player learning how to heal for the first time I agree. I love playing tanks in PVP because of the added utility and playing arms/assassination just feels bad to me. So I’m trying out healing it because I have more to think about and it’s not shunned in PVP as tanks are (which can make sense, they slow games down).

Also, I feel that Blizzard could do the players a favor and giving an option for a third row of action bars on the main section without an addon needed. Bartender is cool and it’s great how we can set these things up… but the average player isn’t going to mess with Bartender.

All in all I think the OP has a great point and shouldn’t be automatically dismissed because casuals get offended over the smallest of things. I’m casual and I’m not offended lol

Well I listed off why it is a big deal. In tight scenarios like the ones I’ve listed off you want to be able to get your numbers out ASAP. Like I said in PvP it’s telegraphing and in PvE it leaves you open to potential one shots from mistakes. Which they do happen and you want to be able to defend yourself as quick as possible.

You’re also missing the point about that optimal window. That optimal window can just be 1 add that comes up 1 minute into the fight. There are some fights where everyone popping their cooldowns on the pull is not the right thing to do. It has less to do with what produces the best numbers but more about what takes care of a specific mechanic the fastest. Having the GCD on offensive cooldowns just gunks the burst window and it just doesn’t feel fluid and just wastes times for the sake of wasting time.

I have some bad news for you: This entire game was designed to appeal to the “casuals” from the very beginning. WoW is and always has been the casual “for everybody” MMORPG.

I play FF in additional to WoW. I’ll just reference one class here, Summoner, a pet caster akin to a 'lock. My rotation there is ~12 skills (8 DPS, 3 Pet DPS, one self heal) that get used an a regular basis plus some situationals. I don’t know how console players do it (more power to them) but there isn’t a button on my 12-button mouse that doesn’t get a workout along with alt/ctrl key sets dropping into the mix. Compare that with our DPS classes and get back to me.

Except the op does not have a good point. The game is balanced around higher levels of play. A world quest grandma does not care about such things as long as mobs are dropping.

The fact that Guardian druids are somehow a thing in arena with 100% passive abilities makes your statement seem sketch

Care to explain?

the word “balance” is completely absent this season.

I don’t think it’s worth arguing someone who decides that playability on a controller is intrinsically linked with being inferior despite all the evidence otherwise.

Not to mention the original post about it was merely just saying you can cut ability bloat without losing complexity and they latched on to the FFXIV part just to bring up the controller scheme.

I’m a casual, not offended, and would rather not see abilities added back in if the choice came down to them asking me directly. Otherwise I don’t mind, per say, either way.

Does it offend you that people exist that like the current state of things?

thankfully it did not come shadowlands

Balance has never been a thing. But I can guarantee some of those passives will either be nerfed, changed, or removed by the developers at some point in an attempt to balance things out.

The lack of PVP tuning has been really bad this season. Everyone said the same thing, yet they have done nothing about it for too long of a time.

Right, they act like I insulted their ancestors yet in the same sentence agree with the fact that pruning was a mistake :man_facepalming:t2:

The game started in a direction I didn’t like back in wrath when they broke up 25 man raid groups by introducing 10 mans. My guild at the time was never the same.

oh well, I’m honestly very excited for Shadowlands, I hope the thing I heard about Holinka coming back was true!

Because you coached your arguments in blanket insults against a facet of the player base that had nothing to do with what you were arguing against.

Don’t throw hands then act shocked when the folks you threw them at clap back.

mass reporting things you simply disagree with isn’t clapping back
