Casual pvp isn’t fun

Interesting how experiences vary, I’ve seen a handful in what I assume is a hundred or so games this season. Probably < 5% - normals not epics that is.

I mean it may just be by chance considering were different battlegroups. But yeah 25% give or take a couple of percent I reckon

Thank you for this post op.

At the begining of the season I told myself thst I should focus my gaming time to level my alts (11 characters) and just do delves and WQ for reputations, giving the little time I have to play. However everytime I login the urge to pvp comes in  but I have not.

After the comments, I think I will continue not doing any sort of pvp this season.

You can always collect the xmogs next expac anyway. You will just miss out on the elite colors, which tbh, the colors have been awful for some of my classes.

I agree. Its so bad right now. The game designers are HORRIBLE and have no idea what they’re doing. Blizz if you read this Email me i’ll give you a good suggestion on how to Balance PVP. Its not hard.

They got rid of battlegroups years ago. Queues are region wide.

Only way to enjoy casual pvp is to play a noob stomper spec like mm or dh when they’re strong… Depending on tuning boomkin or lock can work too if you’re good. Warrior only works if you have pocket heals. But… if you -do- have pocket heals warrior can rock bgs.

Taking out 3 or 4 people in the initial team fight, and then knowing you’re going to be strong on objectives really tips the scales in your teams favor for a win.

Oh my mistake, I thought they may have been still a thing, since I see a lot of people from the same servers and hardly any from other servers.

this is wrong and partially why wow pvp is/has been so bad for the last few years. damp shouldnt need to exist as it needs to currently in rated.

The problem is that if 1 dps can solo 1 healer, then 2 dps can solo 2 healers, which means your healers would die all the time and not be able to do their jobs.
There’s only so much dps can peel for their healers to protect them.

This has been the case for… Ever? Outside of a few Mortal Strike related situations, there haven’t been a lot of times when DPS could straight out 1v1 healers.

Healers were being solo’d by 1 dps player all the time in a few seconds, you can experience this in SoD and Era right now. They changed it because healers revolted and blizzard made them stronger. 1 dps should not, will not and should never solo a decent and up healer, maybe a bot healer but that’s it. 2 good dps should kill 1 good healer after trading CDs. That’s retail. If you want to global healers and live in boomer land, go play SoD or Era.

Casual pvp is fun rn. Rated pvp is not.

At least in casual I can leave the random bg and hop on an alt.

Disc being the best healer, by far, for the x season in a row is why i am not doing rated pvp this season

I feel this. I’ve been doing a lot of pvp lately because I’m a bit more into collecting than any reasonable person should be.

I’ve done my share of random bgs off and on over the years. It feels different than I remember.

Damage alone (whether that being solo OR in groups) is not sufficient to even pressure heals, and the result is many games that end up super binary - when one team can kill the other, and not vice versa. The games that end up super blowouts where 1 team gets 40 kills and the other gets a handful, if any. The games that end up with one side getting camped in a graveyard, and hopefully, ended quickly (those WSG games that take 15 minutes because they don’t even attempt to run a flag).

This isn’t just a “solo dps can’t kill a solo healer” thing. The worst games are two or three competent healers. If you’re lucky, both sides have good healers and it ends up being a game of who runs oom first and a slow stalemate. If you’re not, your team isn’t getting any kills. I had a Deepwind Gorge game a while ago on my trash hunter. Went with two healers to shrine, early capped and spun the flag against 10-12 people for several minutes while the rest of the team rolled over the few of theirs that weren’t bashing their heads against a brick wall. It requires the coordination to focus one and keep the other CCd. If either get to cast… you’re back to square one.
It’s made the premade issue so much more of a problem.

“Go play rated instead”.
I think the value of balance in random battlegrounds is understated. The thing with rated, is it’s a hell of a thing to step into when you’re dealing with the super competitive people who get toxic and attempt to report people for just being bad. Learning in casual pvp is generally a better environment for dps.

PVP is dying because it gets no dev attention. It gets no dev attention because new players avoid it, and interest is generally declining. New players avoid it, because they step into a couple games, end up camped in the graveyard and decide it’s just not fun. (especially trying to get new players to heal…).

I actually greatly enjoyed the Temple of Hotmogu brawl last week, I only was in one really lopsided game (which featured ten opposing players over honor level 500 and may have been a sync queue premade).
It doesn’t really matter how bad your team is, you usually still get the odd kills through heals. I’d like to see more brawls with faster-paced pvp like that.

shadow priest and mages alone has made BG’s so bad to play because you spend the whole time rooted or snared…PVP has never felt worse to play in that regard the CC is beyond oppressive at this point

IMHO casual pvp sux right now because it’s …. Not casual at all. I know that means a lot of different thing to different people but the game playerbase largely consists of the more hard core types now.

I’m sure lots of people on here remember when just having most of your basic abilities keybound and knowing how to strafe put you in the top 5% in a bg. Now you have to put in all sort of effort, learn everything about every class, have a decent ui and a hundred other things just to get mediocre results. It’s just not casual.

Well yeah, casual PVP has been invaded by premades. It’s not fun to go against them. Not at all. But what can you do? Any complaints fall on deaf ears, even if the queue stackers are circumventing the system and have been doing it for what? One year now? More? So yeah. Apparently Blizzard made a choice and it wasn’t casuals. So there’s nothing you can do unless you want to bite the proverbial turd, be a hypocrite and join these queue stackers.

Im assuming you just mean epic bgs? Ive done nothing but que solo random bgs on this alt this season and my winrate is decent on this char. The premade argument is overblown. I dont play with anyone and i have no problems going up against 5mans in bgs.

What are the queue times? I’m on entry level, trying alts and I give up after 30-40 mins :frowning:

My queues in the ~2200mmr range have been between 6-15 minutes, depending on when I’m queueing.
Your first game on a character has an abnormally long queue time for some reason. My first queue took about 40 minutes in S1.
