As others have mentioned OP you can try classic SoD or HC or round out any mogs or class sets (might be better waiting for war bands to enter DF) truth is as a casual player myself i am tired of leveling alts, running the same ED content over and over on my main and alts. These days i login collect my vault, run superbloom and DW weekly hit LFR and call it a wrap till next reset.
I really miss the when 5mans had a purpose for either class quests, raid attunement, or tier .5 sets.
Wow thanks all for the replies! Good to see the community is still very much active and actually helpful (not toxic).
A few takeaways for me from the replies is that I got a ton of content that I missed from previous expansions, so probably leveling alts and exploring BFA and WoD is a must for me. I heard Shadowlands sucked, but I’m still curious to at least see how the zones look?
I did enjoy a lot doing dungeons and raids, but I do remember doing those with groups of people I knew and guilds. I find it very impersonal when doing pugs for the reasons mentioned above, but I have also never tried mythic dungeons, is that any different or worse from a strategy/group perspective?
I’m also still a bit lost about weeklies and dailies and how the reward systems work - reading up on icy veins. So will give that a shot too and figure out if that is something I enjoy.
About SOD and Classic, does leveling have the same curve as it did in the original vanilla game? I’m unsure if my casual play style would lend itself well to a very slow leveling progression, but I’m curious about opinions/thoughts here.
The systems in SL were awful but the zones visually are absolutely some of the best released. The least interesting one imo is Maldraxxus but it does have a good campaign.
Mists is a good option too if you want a laid back leveing experience, warlords if you want a fast one, tbc and wrath zones are nice but you can feel their age.
In addition to icyveins, I would also recommend that you get acquainted/reacquainted with wowhead.com. They have every item, NPC, quest, etc., in the game, and the comments pages are often very useful in understanding something , overcoming a common problem/stumbling block, or finding out the best way to do something.
Wowhead also has lots of guides covering classes, specs, dungeons, raids, patches, game mechanics, features, zones, collecting mounts/pets/toys, factions, etc., that can help you put all the pieces together into a more understandable big picture.
The game is always a little more fun when something is new. But then once you’ve done them, either find something else that interests you or quit. I’ve gotten into a little rut myself. I mostly level paladins now. A big part of my play time now is running through old dungeons and selling transmog items. I have probably run through Razorfen Downs at least 500 times, lol.
dreamsurges, fyrakk suffusion camps, emerald dream, superbloom, time rifts, collecting dragon circle things, get regular flying…do the weeklies from valdrakken and emerald dream
So you basically just described how much you don’t want to play wow lol. One thing at a time, how much you don’t want to play wow. You basically left nothing out.
I’ve been through a similar situation. Everything is just a grind now. Every single thing. There is no optional content. So, you can just keep grinding the reputations. lol
But yeah, since they turned the game into aoe spam it’s just become mindless dungeon and raid farming.
Sounds like you don’t like any of the endgame pillars of content. Maybe take a break and wait for the next big patch. Otherwise farm transmog/mounts/pets/whatever.
If you don’t want to do dungeons, raid or pvp, the bad news is, that’s the game at max level.
The game designers do everything possible to funnel people into eSport repetitive endgame activities. There’s always some good open-world stuff, but you’ll quickly outgrow it.
If you can give up on improving your character’s gear (open world stuff gives you plenty to succeed in the open world), then maybe tackle some achievements. Yes, they’re arbitrary and don’t advance anything, but they can be fun.
Gathering professions can be chill ways to poke around as well. I make a ton of gold just herbing and mining, and it’s a pretty nice way to spend some time.
Finally, leveling alts can be satisfying. Unfortunately, the leveling process is so fast now that you don’t really get to explore more than a couple zones. And Chromie Time is designed to funnel people into the same leveling experiences, in preparation for the day when they inevitably prune half the game’s world from existence. You can pause XP at 30 and really explore a lot of the classic zones and gather achieves if that’s your thing.
But yeah, if rush-rush eSports isn’t your thing, you really have to be creative in today’s WoW. Good luck.
