Casual perspective on SL so far

How so? I have been leveling 50-60 and haven’t noticed any busted and broken.

been in beta since the first week of general invites. Sooo, yeah.

Have you signed up for beta? It used to be an option in account settings, but now it is a separate site.

Of course I have.

Cool, just checking… if I had a nickel for everyone who responded “oh where do I do that” I’d have… well a lot of nickels. :stuck_out_tongue:

I hope your luck improves in the future.

Maybe when WOW 2 releases…

Probably meant “to be (honest)”?

I thought that and thought maybe it was a typo. He did it again later on…

Imagine getting people from the overwhelmingly largest portion of your playerbase to give feedback on the expansion. CRAZY! Right?

Lol I think ive been doing that wrong for a while.
I think its a muscle memory trick. i know it’s “honest” but TBO looked right to my eyes.

Lol surprised no one cought that before. Im pretty sure ive done that for years. Lmao…:joy:

I agree with all your points, and this one has been particularly on my mind ever since they introduced conduits.

I just don’t get it. Why do conduits exists? They are just flat damage boost in most cases. Don’t weapons and armor fill that purpose already?

Conduits should just be built into the soulbind trees. The fact that these are a separate loot, energy CD system is just mind-blowingly over designed.

I have been messing around in beta…what is up with the circle thing…bastion is pretty really disappointed in the venthyr I thought they would be more aidk evil…there just elegant vampire race who like to have parties…The night fae…its ok…those tiny voices…have not tried maldraxxus yet…but Draka rocks…the maw…nice…as a casual yes imma going to play the professions alone are awesomness…changedcmy main like 8 times already…I’m basing it on whats fun…mage to squishy…allI did was die elemental shaman not too bad…destro warlock …having a blast with the fire spec…so Thats what I will go with…you got to realize its just a game …find your fun within the game …so From a 1-10 rating beta for me personally is about a 7 1\2 stars…
.

Having also been invited to beta this past week, this one REALLY stands out to me. Blizzard is selling us this idea that Covenants are extreme blood pacts, and that swapping covenants should be difficult and they get really offended if you ever leave them - that’s even what’s in their text boxes, should you choose to join a new covenant, and ESPECIALLY if you want to return to one. They apparently take that stuff really seriously.

But then I head over to Maldraxxus from Bastion, where I’m part of the Kyrian, and Baroness Draka is like “You must help us clear these undead out of here! Make haste!” And I’m like…what? I MUST do that? Says who? I thought we were AT ODDS. If we’re buddies, then what was the point of me swearing my soul and blood and time to any covenant at all?

Furthermore, outside of the dialogue for swapping covenants, these guys LOVE each other. They all see each other as essential to the balance of the Shadowlands and respect one another. Your calling from the Kyrian to go to Revendreth is like, “Champion! The Venthyr are super awesome guys and they need a hand! Go help them out so we can do our bros a solid!”

It boggles the mind. Choosing your covenant is a superficial thing with no ACTUAL depth, it’s arbitrary. Your choice of covenant is “meaningful” but everybody still considers you a dear friend and ally regardless. Depending on your campaign, you’ll find that other covenants will BEND OVER BACKWARDS to fulfill your casual requests. I just don’t get it.

I’m not so sure that I’d agree. Personally I think Legion’s system was actually a bit worse.

Although I do agree that the legendary system in SL is a bit more convoluted, however also less RNG driven which I guess is both a blessing and a curse.

Actually I digress, I forgot completely about the souls/“order hall” progression. Which whilst not a power progression like the other systems does make the system quite a bit more convoluted.

Title of Blizzard’s past 5 year biography.

Honestly I think it’s just a bit too much a bit too quickly. I personally like the direction they are heading embracing some of the older designs and turning away from the design of Legion/BfA, however it is undisputable that they turned too sharp an angle that people aren’t ready for such changes.

The changes, like those that created the initial change from what WoW used to be, needed to be over time. It’s not one expansion worth of changes imo, especially the AoE cap. I feel like softcaps would have been a better starting point and then potentially going further into cleave caps/spec distinction.

The factions are actually supposed to be supporting pillars of each other tbh. They have their cliche but otherwise are fairly benevolent towards each other. It’s supposed to be a synergistic system.

The covenant swapping thing is almost like departmental rivalry lol. It’s like “yeah I thought you were too good for us and wanted to join the sales team, well look who’s came crawling back to us in the end” definitely a little odd.

Thanks for sharing this, seems to be pretty well thought out feedback and I can only hope that the dev’s are allowed to listen to it.

I’ve avoided most all info about SL because most all feedback I see is negative, or at best… positive with a long, long list of caveats and pitfalls that make it mostly negative to all but the writer.

BfA made me think the current state of the game is maybe un-salvagable sadly as they refused to learn from the mistakes of Legion.

I am glad I do not have beta access as I’d not use that either.

I still have enough hope for SL to be here, but it is waning, and waning fast.

I hope when you dive in you’ll find it fun. I am a little worried about the systems being too complicated for their own good. I don’t want to have to read guides to understand what I’m doing. But I know very little about the expansion and looking forward to playing.

Hah, I feel a lot of people will be disappointed in the Venthyr if they feel they’re going to be the “brooding vampires” types. The ones you work with are noble beings who are working to save souls and keep them from eternal torment in the Maw. And most of them are refined, even if some may come off a bit snobbish (though most don’t).
