I mean, I’ve tanked since BC, and it’s always been fun. Templar protection has been really enjoyable this expansion. I actually found retribution to be kind of dull by comparison, but maybe it picks up with more haste? I don’t know.
It’s pretty wild that they made tanking and healing worse in this X-pac when there has already been such a shortage lol

It’s not about having a new Tank role. It’s about someone like me. A rogue who can’t get into a group yet wants to gear. Under his plan I can swap to tank and get my rogue dps gear so she can eventually dps.
A trick that gets taken advantage of by every hybrid class in the game.
I’d rather play other games than deal with all that mess.

Easy solution - Start playing Tank
Tanked for 3 seasons!
I has its ups, especially as a Blood DK. Pull every pack at tree in a 10 AA throw up Fyrakk Rageheart shield and press a Macro for Ghoul + Empowered Rune Weapon + Abomination Limb I’ve labelled ‘God+Anime’. CC and Bloodboil for fat damage pad.
Just the amount of power they were willing to give us in Season 4 made it very fun to be a tank. I miss it somewhat. Very desired and very strong.

But not all. we don’t need literally every player to become a tank, we just need one tank and one healer per 3 dps. Moving the dial is good

Makes me wish WoW went the way of FFXIV, where one character can learn all classes; but we still have people upset over opening up race/class combos.
I’ll never understand advocating for other players to be limited because some players aren’t interested in more.

Bold of you to assume that only 10 DPS will apply to your group.
They already don’t. There are always hybrid DPS with a Tank spec waiting in the Group Finder for an actual Tank
And that’s because you and I know it’s not that simple. Most players with a Tank spec don’t want to Tank because they don’t want the pressure and responsibility. In particular for M+ where you’re expected to know all the routes.

Yep. Tanking is a thankless job that gets you blamed if anything goes wrong. Any and all Tanks know this is the truth.

I dunno that this would have a massive difference. Tanks and healers are rare because nobody wants the responsibility that comes with those roles. Paladins are already probably the most popular class, with all 3 roles, and most people play ret over prot or holy anyway.
I fully agree that Ret is quite boring right now when compared to how much more fun many other specs are right now.
It’s not that Templar sucks…because the big hammer is really cool! But every 30 seconds 
Herald of Sun is a fun idea and performs well but it’s almost entirely passive gameplay that doesn’t change how Ret fundamentally plays very much.
With haste it does get better, but I think where it’s really suffering right now in terms of fun is:
Execution Sentence completely sucks now and Final Reckoning is also kind of a wet noodle that just amps your HP spenders. There’s also a hilarious gameplay loop where we just have constant 10 stacks of Highlord’s Judgement and not really a way to spend them. Make Crusader Strike, Judgement and Hammer of Wrath able to spend the stacks, or something.
Ret needs a little extra something to make it fun and nuaced.

Watching the sign up for groups is wild. Endless seas of DPS, I can’t even imagine trying to pug as DPS.
Meanwhile, as a tank, you can almost stumble into the group wearing clown shoes and garbage ilvl, and groups will grab you anyways. Because a clown tank is better than no tank for 30 minutes.
Same people who wanted tanks nerfed, will now complain on the forums that there are not enough tanks. Lol

But compare the 1 pull you might get to have fun as a tank to playing as a DPS where every 3 pulls you get to blow it up and pump.
Even in bosses you get to have fun as DPS! As a Tank? Practically falling asleep
80% would be lowballing it. You’d probably end up rejecting close to 95% of the DPS that apply because you only need 3 and if you’re waiting for a tank, possibly would mean being a DPS listing the key, so 2 DPS out of tons of applicants, not even counting people that would apply as DPS when there’s only a tank or healer slot open.
You are right on that. It is definitely not as fun to not pump as i do now.
