it was T for teen in 2004, but in 2011 video games get declared free speech, meaning they can’t be regulated for age. essentially the rating doesn’t matter anymore.
It’s not a debate, you are derailing the thread.
ima debate you anyway.
idk if you remember middle school, but 6th graders have really bad potty mouths when their parents aren’t around. so even saying it has to be moderated for a Teen level means they shouldn’t be going after people swearing.
Mature game with a langue filter, if curse words upset you that’s on you.
Many blue posts in the CS forums saying it doesn’t matter. You will still be actioned. This has been the case since 2005 on the old forums.
you only get actioned if you get reported
I’m not talking about the forums. In game you can literally make it so you can’t see curse word. Why would you have that off if curse words upset you? It’s just silly to report for that. Very immature behavior.
Yes and you will still get your account actioned if reported when using profanity in game.
People have complained MANY times in the Customer Support forum, all the mature language filter is is an extra layer of protection. But doesn’t give you free reign to use profanity. The devs have stated this.
How long do you reckon your luck will hold? You will get reported.
for what?

I’m literally not disagreeing lol I know blizzard is full of sad, lonely activists that get super upset when people say, “mean works”. That’s why I’m hoping blizzard gets hit with the layoff and fires the activists and hires real gamers again. Tired of this SJW garbage.
I am a conservative.
The first amendment has no power when it comes to moderation in video games. It’s not a social media platform nor a town square.
it should apply, a lot of people log on and use trade as a global public chat room, ie, a public square.
It’s not a public square, though. You cannot access in-game chat or post on the forums without an active subscription.
that is a very valid point. but i do think people should be able to swear in online games.
You absolutely can. You just have to expect the consequences.
the problem is by creating a list of words which are not allowed, you allow all sorts of horrible speech that isn’t those words. people can be a whole lot meaner without swearing. never mind that it just puts additional cognitive load on people who are used to swearing because its how they were raised. its like the R word, autistics and adhders are most likely to use it because they were called it growing up, now they get bullied for it when it really is their word and has been brute forced into their lexicon by society. the same society that now tells them they can’t use it.
Congratulations! Now you understand why there isn’t a list of no-no words.
pretty sure if you go dropping f bombs in chat people are gonna report you, so even if there isn’t an official list, people have their lists. people don’t even want to bother with the nuance of if the person saying the word is culturally allowed to say it.
Exactly! You see something you think is inappropriate, you report it and let Blizzard decide if it is or isn’t appropriate for their game/forums.
