im not much of a rated pvper, but yeah… from my persepctive it seems dead also
i have a buddy on my btag who is glad like every season, and for the past 5 days or so ive seen him looking for more for glad push… every single day heres there… looking for more players.
lol… kinda sad tbh… spends more time looking for people than actually playing
what is this game bro
I’d like to say Retail already flopped hard and TBC is coming out early to save this Quarter earning report. Once TBC is out the flopped Retail will just be completely desolate.
Amen to that. The new direction of Activision and the Devs have no vision on how to create stunning class design or a great MMO.
Oh how Talent trees look so good in TBC. They really need to just get back to the basic and make a great game again without these systems that are around for 1 expansion. People are burnt out and just can’t take anymore. Which is why 50% of the players left. More will leave too. Stick a fork in SL.
Myself and all my partners have been queuing at 2600 the majority of the season we’ve played, but the last two months we constantly queued into r1 alts and AWC teams so we just dropped to sell carries on our toons, plus it’s impossible for us to climb near rank 1 with the current mmr deflation
Unfortunately I started 3.5 months ago after quitting in s4 of bfa, and rushed gladiator this season in about a month, but missed out on the “free” 2850.
Much more fun playing 1800-2.1 and it’s a lot more gold too.

It’s doesn’t help either they’ve barely touched the meta since 9.0.5. Between the all the crap systems and the gear wall playing a alt is almost impossible. I mean all you see is BM and arms or so it seems. It’s very stale and it does feel dead. I’ve heard Wizk say he doesn’t even want to play wow and I know Mes isn’t playing atm. I mean its pretty damning when they best players don’t even want to play.
idk wat u guys mean games fine
around 2200ish i only see BM hunter teams now. That’s p much all it is. Jungles, ret/hunter, hunter/spriest,
Because it’s busted. It’s too easy thier damage is a on 10 almost all the time. I’m not saying that BM shouldn’t be good, but they need to add some more depth to it and make the hunter do more then hop around and press 3 to 4 buttons. Sorry, bit of a rant there, but anyways that’s part of my point the game is about as stale as 6 month old bread.
nah i completely agree. BM is ridiculous. it’s too simple for how strong it is. it’s to the point where they can miss 80% of traps and still win games.
but anyway, this is the worst season i have ever seen in wow and i have played in 2007.

While i agree that there are busted specs rn (everything about jungle) (R druids) (one dance rogues glares at kalvish) I don’t think any of these things are more ridiculous than OP things in prior seasons.
I really do believe if mmr were fixed a large portion of the problems people are having would be gone.

yeah, at the end of the day, i dont care, there will always be something OP each season no matter what, I just want to play the game. It’s absolutely horrible sitting in LFG for hours, only to find no one. And then when you do finally queue, it’s 3-4min queues into one other team queueing. truly sad.

I agree, and I also believe MMR has a huge part in it as well, but the fact they have touched the meta in quite awhile will burn people out.
That’s part of it but like. Look at corrupted season it was what almost 10 months with very little tuning? People still played.
I agree that long patches are a bad thing and believe legion length seasons would be wonderful for the game.
That said the true heart of the issue really is this mmr issue there needs to be a carrot for people to chase.
I am very curious to see about this next season.
I do wonder if a large portion of the player base is getting burned out on actiblizz systems and their content with leaving the game in an unbalanced state for so long.
Like in BfA im pretty sure everyone figured out within the first month of BfA that greater gyro needed nerfed. They left greater pyro, an extremely toxic gameplay mechanic to fester in the gameplay for nearly a full 2 years.
The SL problem, the gearing system, looks like its going to let rating gated gear fester for another 2 full years. Major yikers imo, very unhealthy for the game.
Honestly, it just gets exhausting.
Could pull out more examples, but meh hope it gets better soon. I do want the game to succeed.
Yea don’t get me wrong.
The game has a long list of problems. I am not in any way suggesting that fixing mmr would make wow like perfect.
But it would make people play again. No point in fixing anything else if there is no one to play it.
Sure I agree with that, im just curious to see what is causing the drop off mostly, although I do agree that mmr being messed up right now is for sure a contributing factor to the drop off in participation currently.
It’s a major part and I agree whole heartily but there is more to it. I do think people are brunt out, all the systems the gear wall so on and so on. It’s all stuff we never asked for, but yet we have to do because they want to keep adding all these systems that just go away after a xpac. Some, don’t work or even really matter like conduits what a waste.
Honestly I wouldn’t play again. Legit get bored of playing the same spec endlessly. Not having legendaries or being covenant locked feels super bad for your main let alone alts.
Additionally rating locked gear means playing sub par specs feels bad because you get less gear and nobody wants to play with you. Then fighting against people who played since the start and are rocking 220-226 already.
Just so much unfun stuff that MMR changes wouldn’t do a god darn thing for me.
deflation creates very negative experiences
maybe an increasing rating cap per week as the season progresses, like 2200 first week and goes up 50 or something per week until the season ends
just spitballing, there’s lots of solutions but rating decay is one of the most corrosive as it is a negative feedback loop on time invested, that’s why it was removed after being heavily used in vanilla
this kind of stuff is also intertwined with balance changes to further create negative feedback loops that players feel are outside their control
I am not suggesting that an mmr fix would suddenly make wow perfect.
But a rank one title is what drives the vast majority of people who continue to q after receiving a glad title.
Right now that isn’t a possibility and the remnants of that community are playing at a rating range that they shouldn’t be and its hurting the players that should be that rating.
Fixing mmr is a needed first step, if blizz wants people to q this season.
As for other issues like a stale meta this game has survied that before and in my opinion there have been worse metas than this one.
The gear gap experiment has been awful but when you have people screaming “Muh RPG” you get problems like this.
I personally would prefer legion templates I don’t want gear factoring in who wins the games. There are a lot of other good suggestions, but I actually feel bad for blizz on this issue because they walk a tightrope between people crying for “Muh RPG” and people who actually want a competitively fair game.
Which is .05 percent of the pop by the time you get r1? I’m not saying this doesn’t have a cascade effect to some extent down the ladder… But if the game was good and lots of people were playing in the mid ranges, seeing an r1 once in a blue moon at 2400 wouldn’t be such a bummer. Now nobody plays below that so if you’re queing at 2400 virtually all you see is r1 people who can’t climb.
I just remember I played all of the second season of wod I think it was. Duelist was super low, I got it at like 1950 or something and was shocked. Don’t know if it was MMR or what but I played every spec in every comp all day every day till the end.
SL rolls around and so many bad systems (not talking balance as that’s always a thing) and I proceed to play less of SL S1 than any other first season ever. Ever.
I don’t man… People have been fairly consistently asking for wod gearing since the atrocity of the first season of legion. Blizzard in all of their stubbornness and ignorance has chose to believe they know best for how long now?
Wod with slightly tighter scaling could be as near perfect as it gets. It had decent participation throughout in PvP despite the expansion being full out abandoned and all pvers leaving the game. They’re too focused on what happened to PvE though to realise it.
