Can't name pets?

i tamed some elites then attempted to name them, the naming option isn’t there for me atall, i’ve been able to name a pet before that wasn’t an elite. so confused prnt.sc/124f2ns

This question comes up so often that Blizz should have made some kind of clue, like having the “Rename” option still active, but giving you an explanatory dialog when you try to rename a named elite or an already-renamed pet.

Rare elites are treated like already-named pets. You have to get a “Certificate of Ownership” item from an Inscriptionist, or on the Auction House.

The dialog box should also explain why this change was made. Because before Shadowlands, you could rename “named” pets without a certificate. I suspect this change was lobbied for by the Inscriptionist Union.
