Hi everyone, I’ve recently come back to Wow. I live in Australia and use Optus 5G home internet via WiFi. When I try to log in, I get stuck at “logging in to game server”. When I connect my PC to my mobile phone hotspot however, I can log in to WoW with no issues. My mobile is also with Optus. I’ve never experienced this, and I’ve tried all the connection issue troubleshooting options. Any ideas?
Wait for maintenance later to check if your connection issues are resolved.
I’m having the same issue. Stuck on “logging into game server” when connected to home WiFi. I can connect to my phone hotspot and log in with no issues. This is happening on multiple computers. This just started since the patch this week.
Try loading up Classic Era and then come back and go into Cata Classic. Worked for me.
Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, I don’t have Classic Era installed and it won’t move past the loading screen to install it. The “Start Install” button is grayed out. I’m calling my ISP tomorrow. Hopefully, they can rule out an issue on their side.
There were apparently some issues with Cata servers last night. Try again today maybe?
About the time you posted there was a DDoS, I saw posts when I woke up stating it was shown on the launcher, so most likely your ISP will not now find any issues on their end.
Unfortunately a mobile or 5G connection is not really supported, not sure why one would work while another would not, should be connecting to the same towers I would think.
I was finally able to get logged in using a VPN. I tried that yesterday and it didn’t work with Mullvad VPN. I downloaded Proton VPN today and used the free version and it worked to bypass whatever the issue is that doesn’t let me connect to Battle.net.
A bad route. Blizzard made changes after the string of DDoSes, and your ISP needs to make updates to their routing to accommodate those changes.
Thanks! I can no longer log in on my mobile now, so had nothing. Using a VPN worked.
You were right. I called my ISP, and when I mentioned that I was having trouble connecting to WoW, he said he might know the issue. He informed me that he had to modify something on my account to open up some ports. He also asked me to power cycle the fiber box and router, and that resolved the problem.
