Can't believe Blizzard is taking the WAR out of WARCRAFT

Peace between the Horde and Alliance is antithetical to the spirit of warcraft! As we all know, ALL three RTS warcrafts had war between a Horde and Alliance as its main central conflict. Can you IMAGINE what WoW would’ve been like without a Horde and Alliance war? It wouldn’t be WARcraft at all! All we’d have would be…

The series-of-extended-and-large-scale-scuffles with the Scourge
The settlement-of-political-differences-through-use-of-military-force-rather-than-diplomacy with the Illidari
The state-of-armed-conflict-between-different-nations-or-states-or-different-groups-within-a-nation-or-state with the Zandalari
The period-of-extended-violence-involving-armed-conflict-and-fatal-use-of-force with Deathwing and co.
The disagreement-between-two-large-groups-resolved-via-organized-violence-against-the-other-party with Garrosh’s True Horde and Iron Horde
The clashing-between-two-groups-wherein-each-tries-to-enforce-its-will-on-the-other-by-destroying-the-others-ability-to-use-violence-with-its-own-greater-application-of-violence with the Mogu and Thunder King
and that skirmish with the Legion!

And at that point you may as well just call it “peacecraft” and sell it to my grandmother, which would be a poor business plan because she doesn’t play games regardless of content. Bad move, Blizz!

Sorry, there never was a real war…only a faked faction war for a long time now.

Do I detect a smidgen of a hint of a soupcon of a whiff of sarcasm in this post?

I think we’re not factoring in Tyrande’s ability to screw this all up though lol

what “peace”?
this will probably a cease-fire until N’zoth is piñata’ed until oblivion

The faction war is miniscule compared to the real war

Did you play Warcraft III? The Alliance and Horde allied to take down the Scourge and Legion. Stuff like that happens from time to time.

War not make one great

They can’t make a real war happen. Maps are static for the most part, players raise hell if their faction is even perceived as losing something (territory, fight, etc.), and its gone on so long people don’t care anymore.

Also in Warcraft III it wasn’t just the Alliance and the Horde. There was the Forsaken and Night Elf faction as well. More sides equals more interesting than red team vs blue team.

Better.

ITT: War doesn’t exist except between a faction called “the Horde” and a faction called “the Alliance”. Planet Earth has never had a war.

Unless they just said it, no one said that the peace will last or factions are merging.

Trust me. This has happened before. While lasting peace is possible, it is also a safe bet that will go like this:

-Horde and alliance at peace
-one betrays the other because of a rogue element
-horde and alliance fight
-oh no, big bad shows up
-horde and alliance make peace and work together to fight big bad
-Yay, big bad gone
-horde and alliance at peace
-repeat the cycle

The real war against the Void? Does that even matter anymore?

No too boring and causes lame story writing.

Yeah they’ve already set Tyrande up to disturb the peace again. Such twists.

It’ll be the Alliance that starta it this time. That’ll be a nice change.

If they try to retread the played out faction war again, I may just be done.

This nonsense about the only “war” in Warcraft being Horde vs Alliance is three expansions overdue to be taken out behind the barn and shot.

I am going to be very sarcastic here, thee hath been warned.

Oh yes, because the ONLY way to have WAR in WARcraft is between two factions that only fight against each other due to old grievances that happened years prior. Nope, we’re totally not allowed to have a WAR with the Big Bad of the Expansion if the Big Bad isn’t the other faction. Must kill each other off til extinction! Such is life in a WARcraft paradise.

If you’re wondering how PvP would work out, just call them War Games to demonstrate each side’s strength. I believe in the real world, this be something close to the Olympics? Only more dangerous.
