Can't add debit card as payment method

Heya. Got the itch to play again, tried to add my Visa debit card as a payment method, but got hit by the “An error occured” message.

The address on the card is the same as the address I have listed in my Battlenet account, and the region is the same (United States). I’ve tried three different browsers along with the clearing cache/cookies thing. I can’t see any failed transactions or pending transactions in my bank account.

Any way to fix this?

If you’re not seeing transactions, i wonder if something is blocking the attempts. Some security software can block the purchase.

Beyond that, maybe check with the bank. I know my bank had issues with Twitch purchases, but not Blizzard, and I’m not sure why either.

Well, I don’t see anything that hit the order stage, in any form.

That would be expected if the issue is you cannot add a payment method.

This is often a browser issue of some type. I wonder if the system may have been having issues at the time, have you tried since?

I tried adding a payment method just now. No luck - still getting that “An error occured.” message, with no further details.

Is it an issue with debit cards? Under “Add a new Payment Method”, the available payment types are either Credit Card or Paypal.

Most debit cards ARE also a credit card. If yours is not, that may be the issue.

Does the card have a visa or mastercard logo? If not try to see if you can get one from your bank.

If no logo then it can not be used. But you could link your back account with paypal and go that way.

It’s got the Visa logo and I’ve been able to use it everywhere else in place of a credit card.

Edit: Found the issue - it’s with my debit card, something’s locked it down. I tried to purchase something on Steam and it failed to go through.

If I had to guess, it’s because I tried to resubscribe on my EU account (was planning on joining some friends across the pond) so my bank probably thought something was fishy, seeing the order placed for something in Europe. Looks like it’s a bank issue after all.

Thanks for the help everyone.
