Canon warcraft humans can change skin color?

Because the NPCs being changed don’t matter, at all. They’re background decorations, not characters. Phlynch can’t even tell me what the pictured NPC’s name is, and I bet you can’t either.

All they’re doing is making use of the new customizations to get a more mixed bag of appearances visible on NPCs, exactly like they said they would. It is literally a non-issue, but you want to whine and moan about something.

nothing matters in the grand scheme of things so that’s a stupid argument, since you wont’ shut up about it the name is Larimaine Purdue.

they easily could have made use of new customization options by making new NPCs, why is that an impossibility to you? I think that’s the real question posed to anyone really here acting as if changing old NPCs was the only way.

They did that too. A couple of the major characters in the Alliance side of the new starting zone use black customizations. But adding a bunch of new cardboard NPCs to replace the old cardboard NPCs would be a waste of time and cause just as many issues. If these “characters” are so important wouldn’t it be a travesty to have them just disappear and be replaced?

And what’s her story? Her aspirations in life? What dialogue lines does she actually have?

In what way is she a real character?

But…

I didn’t call you racist. You called you racist. Getting defensive and resort to “I’m not racist” is pointless. Much like, I find any real complaints about this to be kind of ridiculous. Retconning unimportant NPCs (And in the grand scheme of things, these NPCs are very much unimportant) isn’t really hurting anyone or anything.

I mean, if this were Anduin, or Matthias Shaw, or even a smaller character like Talia. I’d get it, but these are unimportant NPCS.

No. It’s not. These characters are black. That isn’t how blackface works. If it was there would be a whole different conversation going on.

I suggested changing the cardboard NPCs with out real names into anything they felt like to show off their new customizations, that’s who should have been changed and it doesn’t matter here character she was the way she was for well over a decade

Having a name doesn’t make these NPCs any less cardboard. They’re there to sell bread or offer a teleport to the proving ground since there’s no such thing as skill training any more. They do not matter.

Is this an issue for the OP?

it 100% does and this stupid nihilistic argument you’re trying to make to prove your point is just embarrassing yes nothing matter we get it wub a lubba dub dub 200 IQ here. and if you’re trying to say things do matter just not this, well maybe to YOU, but you realize your view point isn’t the only that matters right?

Not all view points are created equal. Yours is idiotic.

I’m done. Keep being mad I guess.

a nihilistic view point such as your is literally the definition of a garbage useless opinion, there is nothing you can do with “it doesn’t matter”

Phlynch, you and I agree more often then not on alot of things. This is not one of them. This was a retcon plain and simple due as mentioned to the limits of technology before(like how Sylvanas did not get her high elven model until around Wrath).

And Sylvanas had her night elf model for about 5 years or so. Things change and soft retcon are sometimes needed. In a perfect world this character would have been black from the beginning but we are not in a perfect world.

you’re trying to compare make believe elves to skin color in humans…k

Im trying to compare make believe elves to make believe humans.

if the make believe aspect of these humans were even slightly relevant we wouldn’t have even gotten the customization update, clearly it’s more than that to a lot of people

The prejudiced undertones are strong with this thread. Don’t go saying this is some sort of cannon/lore/retcon issue when it’s simply a case of you not liking diversity.

having old NPCs change skin tones and not being a fan some how = not liking diversity? you immediately show how simple you are when you make accusations like this “someone doesn’t like X about skin color? must be racist” and you never really learn how to speak your point coherently cause your so used to just being able to shut down people by accusing them of such there fore you feel like you don’t even have to engage cause you’re morally superior.

Again, most people dont even know the names of these NPC. And it is relevant to people, more so to the people who until now never actually got NPC/character that could represent them.

People say this is blackface. I say it is more akin to when women were finally allowed to do stage play because the old rules about having only male preformers could no longer be applied/we created new rules.

except these people weren’t black, not ever, this isn’t’ like that at all. this isn’t the case of darker skinned humans finally fitting their skin color better due to new customization this is turning white people into colored ones, which feels icky especially when making new NPCs is right there, we all do it every day via character creation, we have the technology.

Have they changed any of the other races that now have dark skin tones?

Are there black dwarf and gnome NPCs now?

EDIT: Actually it should apply to all races. Did any other races get their NPCs randomized appearances?

And its not blackface either but people keep using a term that cannot be applied to what is happening here to a real world attempt at racism.

This is a case of the world being allowed to use characters that better represent the world around them.
