I can log into the battle.net page. When I click the play button, the “game is playing” indicator comes up. Then nothing. I have uninstalled the game and reinstalled it, but no change. I can log all the way into classic just fine. Can some one help me?

even during maintenance I can usually get to the server selection screen, this is a new animal. and why would it say “game is running”?
If you’re testing how the game works during maintenance, you’re doing it wrong.
The “game is running” and really long load times have usually been related to out of date graphics drivers.
Just an update. The servers are back up, and a new patch has gone threw. But this problem is still there.

Usually that’s a driver issue or a program fighting the game client. We’ve seen a lot of players crashing on startup because their drivers are quite old. Try updating your graphics drivers first.

This DXDiag confirms the problem I mentioned above. Both your Intel and Nvidia graphics drivers are extremely old. You need to update those. If you need further help with updating the drivers, please contact your laptop manufacturer.
If you get those updated successfully and continue to have problems, just create a new DXDiag and we can re check it.
