Not a lawyer, but that’s probably why it’s game time only and not subs. Yet. Because subs are legally binding contracts but game time is just an item they are changing the sticker price on.

If I’m right, it’s less about punishing one group of players and more that one group of players is able to prevent an increase because Blizz is bound to the legally binding contract the player signed agreeing to pay X amount for X amount of game time.
I think to raise the sub prices and not violate the contract they would have to announce the increase, then fulfill all remaining contracts and offer NEW contracts at that price point because I am not sure that the language in the contract for a sub includes any language about them having the right to raise sub prices and most sub services will include that just in case. That’s how Netflix and other services can just announce it’s going up whenever they feel like it.

So why are we blaming Blizzard for something that’s the goverments fault? Are they suppose to not charge taxes for things? I’m pretty sure that companies need to add sales tax to things that the government tells them to add sales tax to. They also need adhere to exchange rates when selling to other countries.
