Serious question, I submitted a bug in the bug forum but it says those are looked at but not replied to. I can’t seem to open a ticket in game it just points me to websites or the forums.
If it matters the issue is I am unable to spend Knowledge Points for Engineering. Any time I go to that tab it takes me to the specialization window for my other profession, Alchemy. I have tried clearing caching, removing all addons and it still happens.
I am not going to unlearn Engineering as I will lose old recipes.
the point to the bug section gets looked at much faster then the ticket. players can help a work around much faster in the bug sections also. some players might had this bug and had workaround in that part of the sections
Generally speaking, when you’re trying to put in a ticket and keep getting pointed to websites or the forums, it’s because your issue can’t be solved directly by a GM. They can’t and don’t fix bugs, so if what you’re experiencing seems like a bug, it’ll point you elsewhere, since submitting a ticket would ultimately do nothing.
GMs do not handle bug reports so you really should not waste time putting in a ticket for it. They also don’t pass on bug reports to the QA and Dev team. You did the only thing you could by reporting in the Bug Report forum. The QA team DOES look at it, but they don’t discuss it with you and they don’t give an ETA on fixes, if something turns out to be an actual bug.
I would move your thread to the CS forum if you can, sometimes a Forum Support Rep can take a look at your char and let you know if there is something amiss and what you can do about it.
The first thing everyone is going to tell you though is to do a full UI reset. It is about as basic as turning it off and back on, but kind of needs to be done to ensure the UI is not corrupted. I had to clear my Cache the other day and restart the game in order to interact with the bag interface and bag items via mouse which was wild and I don’t know what caused it.
When you do it, just rename the folders instead of deleting them. That way if it does not work you don’t have to re-install addons. You can just delete the new folders and rename the old ones back to the default name.
To move a thread to the CS forum
Edit your first post using the pencil edit button on the bottom of the post
Use the drop down menu to select the Customer Support forum instead of General Discussion.
GMs don’t fix bugs and make changes to individual accounts. That is totally out of the scope of what they can do which is why putting in a ticket is going to get a template answer to post on the Bug Report forums or use the in-game reporting tool.
In this case though it is something UI related but I don’t know what and they should move it to CS in case a Blue there can check the char or find any known issues. That would rule that out and give them some other advice maybe.
This does sound like a UI issue though which is client side. Figuring out just what it is though is not easy. That is not something a GM could help with though.
This is a UI issue in some way so profs is not likely to know unless someone else ran into it.
I DO have issues interacting with things in my bags at times, or even bags. I have to /reload and I have to restart on occasion. Had to clear cache at some point too.
SOMETHING is up and I don’t know if it is an addon or base UI. The OP should not end up with an Alchemy menu showing when clicking Engineering Specialization.
Oh agree, I was just thinking someone might have seen the issue previously and have an idea on how to get around it. Hopefully its an add-on or the UI reset fixes it since I doubt its something that QA would be able to duplicate.
You doubt the ability of the QA Team. They can replicate more things than us players could actually detect
If I have got my information correct though, someone might have to correct me on this if I got it wrong, some bugs can be hidden behind the tightest of corners where it can seem like a UI or addon problem. Not all bugs are just as easy to detect.
I have no doubts about there ability to duplicate a bug if given the appropriate information, but if this isn’t a bug, but something caused by a corrupted UI or an add-on, its something that they won’t be able to duplicate or address.
Yep tried the UI reset, no addons, all the usual stuff I’ve found multiple posts on the forums here as well as Reddit and 99% of the time the fix was dropping the profession and relearn.
it’s an alt, basically just used for alchemy cooldowns so I’m going to ignore her engineering for now and see if it somehow randomly fixes like it did for one person on Reddit lol
Out of curiosity, Oortaelia, which specialization were you looking to put points in next? I’d like to see if I can test it, but if it ends up working I don’t want to add points to something you were planning on doing later, since I can’t undo it.
Just to double check, this isn’t for the character you are posting on, right? It’s your level 81 Human Death Knight? The Specialization Window currently looks like this?
I tried Applying the Knowledge and didn’t seem to have an issue. I didn’t click Apply Changes yet though, (I wanted to confirm the character first) is that where you experience the issue or is that just putting in the points to begin with?
It sounds like you aren’t even getting to that tab, or remaining on it. That doesn’t seem to be happening for me, so I’m wondering if you did all the steps for a UI reset? I just don’t know what else would prevent you from interacting with that.
It’s on my Druid Greensleeves that’s the only one experience this issue. Thank you if you can actually put any points into recycling on Greensleeves Turalyon you can put as many as I have really
