He seems like a great addition to the testing team.
Iād rather he be his own person, having the liberty to both test things and screw around with them on live is a fun time.
I donāt think they will since he is doing it for free lol.
Iām pretty sure he makes more money making vids on YouTube than he would being employed by blizzard.
Judging by the recent blizzard employee protests this is no doubt true.
Testers will rarely get paid a high wage. Its a supply and demand thing. There is a huuuuge applicant pool of over qualified people wanting to do the rather menial job.
Why pay someone to do something millions will do for free (and even get mad for not being invited to participate)?
I guess I live under a rock. . .
Who?
Its a guy who makes like 2 videos a week finding new ways to one shot people, or do absurd things like kill people without leaving stealth.
How do you know he doesnāt already work for them
Well, since all his content is pretty demoralizing for blizz I think that it would be very unlikely
This. Donāt fall into bobby kotickās trap.
Seriously, I think you guys are overestimating the amount of money that youtube generates.
Itās not demoralizing at all actually, it helps them find bugs and exploits. I donāt know if he works for them in actuality but I would be willing to bet he has a direct line to someone in the company to give a heads up to about stuff like this.
He probably gets more money from doing videos and streaming than he would if he worked at blizzard as a tester.
Look at it this way, he finds an exploit like this, makes a video. Then he calls his āfriendā at blizz and says hey I found this thing you guys might wanna fix. They say ok drop your video and make some money off it, then we will fix it. He makes some money, blizz gets some free exploit and bug testing, win win.
I think your overestimating how much blizzard pays their employees. Itās not that you can get super mega rich doing YouTube stuff, itās the fact that blizzard pays/treats their employees like garbage
Not only does Rextroy get more income from how heās operating now, he very likely is contributing more as just a player than he would as a Blizzard employee.
I mean, look at 8.3. If there were a testing team, donāt you think we wouldnāt have had 50% nerfs on some corruptions?
Heās become the Batman to Blizzardās GCPD. Heās the tester they deserve, but not the tester they need right now.
I would rather he keep finding broken things and making videos.
