Have you tried the taxi system.
If the system is fun to use and made to be more efficient then flying, then it will be embraced.
But that does not mean the old form of flying needs to be taken away from those who like it.
Itâs like swapping out chocolate chip cookies for raisin cookies and pretending like itâs better. Itâs not cool. Both cookies (clearly identified) are cool together.
I see what youâre saying, but from a dev perspective why even bother with expansive, painstakingly crafted zones if the greater bulk of players are doing their best to opt out of it entirely? At what point does it no longer make sense to have these zones at all and become smarter instead go full lobby game, redirecting those resources into something the players arenât so intent on skipping?
If players had a button that caused them physical pain but granted whatever they desired in the game at that point in time, many would wear that button out without a doubt.
I commend your ability to stick to the talking points, but you have to see the giant glaring hole in that argument.
There is no hole. You get what you want. Others get what they want. And it doesnât affect players with limitations that have been playing this game for over a decade.
Then make the outdoor content fun and rewarding. People will do it. If they canât manage that and everyone wants to skip it, then transportation is the least of their worries.
I often fly old zones to discover new places I skipped or could not inspect fully because I was busy fighting for my life on the ground back in the day. I think Blizzard is so focused on trying to get us to enjoy all the new stuff that they donât give us the time to enjoy it at our pace.
Chill Flying is a way of lifeâŠI have found new cool stuff in Vanilla and BFA is fun to fly around too. cool easter eggs are hidden everywhere and they make people fall into a deeper love with this game then cool fast mini games do.
No one remembers jousting from cata. And there is a good reason for that.
Yeah I donât explore and look at everything until there is flying. Then I find all the secrets and treasures.
I agree, but define âfun and rewardingâ in a way that applies to the playerbase at large and doesnât manage to cheese off some subsection or another. Itâs not as straightforward of a task as it may seem.
I canât really enjoy a dungeon until I can solo it and see all the cool stuff it had. Running it in the day it was always a Blur of trying to play keep up with the tank.
I want regular flying to be added later. This dragon-riding sounds fun at first, but it doesnât sound like we will be able to just âflyâ and âhoverâ like we can now. This is a constant falling / gliding mechanic that will become frustrating to those of us druids who can fly naturally, and the rest of us who have bought countless flying mounts, if there is no âregularâ flight added later. I am fine with a 10.2 flying thing but if they lock us out of it, that will suck.
Yeah for instance I went into Kara to look at all the paintings and everything after it stopped being a rush to get it done.
I use flying the same way, to look at the scenery to take it all in. I get to see the little seating areas on top of some mountain where there was a picnic. Itâs nice.
Thatâs their job. Dealing with difficult situations is part of it.
IMO they screwed the pooch long ago by trying to please far too big of a crowd. It left them in a spot where theyâre always in this dilemma. Picking a more focused group to cater to would have led to a smaller game, but one where they really could have delivered better content for the players.
Thatâs fair. Iâve mentioned in the past that I think that maybe Blizzard should consider splitting crowds up a bit between a couple of different server types so that the two can at least operate under different rulesets that make more sense for each. Like high end M+ and mythic raiding is so far diverged from leveling and world stuff that itâs barely recognizable as the same game, so itâs not surprising that fans of each are difficult if not impossible to please in the same stroke.
How come I did this 2 days ago, yet I canât link something now?
