Does scrolling past posts count as reading them? If so I just got 58 of them done.
I used to be active on the old forums and post a lot. I never post here hardly anymore. Just post on Twitter or Reddit.
Depends how fast you scroll.
Has to be on screen for like 2.5s to register.
The little blue dot on the top right of a post near the timestamp goes away if it’s registered.
Yeah but if they get you enough times then you get the temporary suspensions and that’ll knock you off progress. Cuz it sure did for me
( Altho if I’m mistaken then that’s on me )
Buff for xtra forum threads and reddit gold I mean, Panda Bronze I mean, Like this post 's, I mean… No wait, I think that last one is right. Pls buff the drop rate for Post-Likey Hearts and 4x the rate threads viewed gives.
If it’s severe enough, yes they will.
I don’t even know which TL I am, says regular, so, just vibe!
They did actually give me a few days break a while ago too. That was for my snarky response to their ad about the cosmetic wrist transmog that came with traders tendies. There are degrees of transgression and punishment. And yeah, also probably frequency of offences. It’s why I vehemently disagree when people suggest it’s all automated. My enduring TL3 shows the opposite.
regular = 3
member = 2
Idk what 1 is because getting to 2 is like “visit the forums 3 times” then it jumps to the TL3 insanity.
I have a rule where I’m not allowed to make forum posts after I’ve been out partying with Lady Moonberry. I have to wait until at least the next day to determine if I should be posting whatever was on my mind while I was chugging Moonberry Sparkle Juice.
The answer is usually "No, I should probably leave Lady Moonberry’s sage, sassy wisdom in the Shadowlands, before my Forum account get’s banished to the other kind of ‘Shadowlands’ ".
If you ever see any particularly spicy posts from me, it’s probably just because Lady Moonberry decided to visit the forums on my account while I was bio behind a tree from too much Juice. That silly lily-leaper sometimes has quite a strong imagination .
And some rather… strong opinions.
Trust Level 1 – Basic
At Discourse, we believe reading is the most fundamental and healthy action in any community. If a new user is willing to spend a little time reading, they will quickly be promoted to the first trust level.
Get to trust level 1 by…
- Entering at least 5 topics
- Reading at least 30 posts
- Spend a total of 10 minutes reading posts
Users at trust level 1 can…
- Use all core Discourse functions; all new user restrictions are removed
- Send PMs
- Upload images and attachments if enabled
- Edit wiki posts
- Flag posts
- Mute other users
Admins can change these thresholds by searching for tl1
in site settings.
Trust Level 2 – Member
Members keep coming back to your community over a series of weeks; they have not only read, but actively participated long and consistently enough to be trusted with full citizenship.
Get to trust level 2 by…
- Visiting at least 15 days, not sequentially
- Casting at least 1 like
- Receiving at least 1 like
- Replying to at least 3 different topics
- Entering at least 20 topics
- Reading at least 100 posts
- Spend a total of 60 minutes reading posts
Users at trust level 2 can…
- Use the “Invite others to this topic” button for one-click onboarding of new users to participate in topics
- Invite outside users to PMs making a group PM
- Daily like, edit, and flag limits increased by 1.5×
- Ignore other users
- Edit their own posts for up to 30 days after posting
Admins can change these thresholds by searching for tl2
in site settings.
Trust Level 3 – Regular
Regulars are the backbone of your community, the most active readers and reliable contributors over a period of months, even years. Because they’re always around, they can be further trusted to help tidy up and organize the community.
To get to trust level 3, in the last 100 days…
-
Must have visited at least 50% of days
-
Must have replied to at least 10 different non-PM topics
-
Of topics created in the last 100 days, must have viewed 25% (capped at 500)
-
Of posts created in the last 100 days, must have read 25% (capped at 20k)
-
Must have received 20 likes, and given 30 likes.*
-
Must not have received more than 5 spam or offensive flags (with unique posts and unique users for each, confirmed by a moderator)
-
Must not have been suspended or silenced in the last 6 months
-
These likes must be across a minimum number of different users (1/5 the number), across a minimum number of different days (1/4 the number). Likes cannot be from PMs.
All of the above criteria must be true to achieve trust level 3. Furthermore, unlike other trust levels, you can lose trust level 3 status. If you dip below these requirements in the last 100 days, you will be demoted back to Member. However, in order to avoid constant promotion/demotion situations, there is a 2-week grace period immediately after gaining Trust Level 3 during which you will not be demoted.
Users at trust level 3 can…
- Recategorize and rename topics
- Access a secure category only visible to users at trust level 3 and higher
- Have all their links followed (we remove automatic nofollow)
- TL3 spam flags cast on TL0 user posts immediately hide the post
- TL3 flags cast on TL0 user posts in sufficient diversity will auto-silence the user and hide all their posts
- Make their own posts wiki (that is, editable by any TL1+ users)
- Daily like, edit, and flag limits increased by 2×
Admins can change these thresholds by searching for TL3 in site settings.
Trust Level 4 – Leader
Leaders are regulars who have been around forever and seen everything. They set a positive example for the community through their actions and their posts. If you need advice, these are the folks you turn to first, and they’ve earned the highest level of community trust, such that they are almost moderators within the community already.
Get to trust level 4 by…
- Manual promotion by staff only
- (Possibly via a to-be-developed election system in the future)
Users at trust level 4 can…
- Edit all posts
- Pin/unpin topic
- Close topics
- Archive topics
- Make topics unlisted
- Split and merge topics
- Reset topic bump date
- Daily like, edit, and flag limits increased by 3×
- Any TL4 flag cast on any post immediately takes effect and hides the target post
- Can send personal messages to an email address

for me my gripe aside from the post count that you mentioned, is the requirement to give likes too.
99% of the time of posts i read none of them stick out that i genuinely feel i need to give a like to.
I’m gonna take a shot in the dark here and guess that the person you’re quoting thinks that LGBT people, minorities, and women existing in a game or gaming community is “politics”.
Agreed on that 100%, but the amount is fairly trivial so you can just kinda scroll down mashing the heart once a day for a few days and be fine. It shouldn’t be a requirement, but since it’s such a small amount I can overlook it.
IMO, the ideal set of criteria would be:
- Consecutive Days Visited (Ensures regular forum use)
- Posts Read (Ensures the former criteria isn’t met by just leaving the tab open forever)
- Posts Created (Ensures you’re interacting with the forum, not just looking at it).
- Account in good standing (obvious reasons)
That’s all the key ones. The rest is fluff.
Huh I’ve never looked af the requirements… says I’m member. I get flagged and silenced a lot for having opinions and that’s not changing any time soon and I’m not spending 50 days on these forums lmao…
I hear you. People also think that ‘liking’ means you 100% agree with the person. Nope.
I tend to not give out likes unless:
- I’m in the mood - sometimes I just don’t feel like it
- I think the person
a) is genuinely helpful,
b) has interesting ideas, and/or
c) has an attribute that makes me laugh (name, style of post).
At the end of the day, why does it matter? Plenty of people are TL3 by just, hanging around and interacting. I didn’t even know what it was until I noticed I reached it.
It’s not exactly a prestigious title or anything, just people hanging out in the forums. SO hang out, vibe and gg.
More like propaganda. It’s shoehorned into everything so much in all media that if I belonged to any of those groups I’d be insulted.
Sure thing buddy
For real. Drink more kool-aid it’s tasty
