Yep, that’s what I figured. Someone who’s class didn’t change at all coming in here telling everyone else who’s classes were gutted that these are good changes.
What ability doesn’t have it’s own animation?
well it slowed combat for all of us, regardless of the class you played.
personally for me it feels closer to old school wow which i liked.
instead of diablo 3 style spam fest with instakill macros left and right
What do you think this is? I am curious.
they do have animations, they just don’t impact you capacity to use a different ability.
the gcd does function in that way
the macros mentioned earlier are basically instakill…for example, the warrior macro
i mean ranged in general are still screwed against melee but…it was worse in legion
Guy 1: Dancing on top of mailboxes isn’t a serious mode of gameplay, no one cares about it like they dot PvE or PvP.
Guy 2: Not true, I love dancing on mailboxes and maintain several subscriptions so I can have an entire raid dancing on a mailbox.
GD: Wow, Guy 2 really destroyed that guy’s argument with his singular anecdot. Dancing on mailboxes must be the most popular activity in WoW!
Ok, but like, what do you think are in these macros?
well it depends on the class.
but the point is that you effectively almost instantly die.
that’s the issue.
i’d rather have more drawn out, skillful fights like classic wow.
i really don’t feel like instakill macros fit an mmo…mmos are in terms of playstyle and design much more like fighting games which tend to have much more drawn out, complex fights and combos.
and also i don’t think that macros belong in mmo games. it’s like saying they belong in fighting games, they don’t.
the whole point of fighting games is being mechanically superior than your opponent, which is exactly what wow should also be about because mmos are similar and i think we should value complexity and skill
So you have no idea how macros work, but you hate them? Would it blow your mind if I told you that the warrior 1 shot macro consisted of 2 cooldowns and a potion, and all the YouTube clickbait videos are 6.5 million hp warriors killing 3 million hp players in random BGs? Also that it usually took 6-7 (GCDs) abilities to actually kill these very undergeared players.
if it involves multiple ability usage and potion usage, do you really think that macros add skill to the game?
it’s like saying, fighting games are improved by having programs that add multiple button presses to the game so i can watch my character play for me.
games are meant to be played…not meant to be watched while bots do the work for you.
that’s the entire point of video games, to play them.
playing a video game is mostly about mechanical skill.
and that is across the board, whether playing an mmo or fps or real time strategy game
We’re protection warriors affected? I feel clunky.
I think that if you need to macro 2 cooldowns and a potion together then you aren’t a good player to begin with. Those YouTube videos are designed to attract bad players though. They do a very good job looking at this thread.
well you have to consider this fact.
animations don’t matter in wow in terms of ability use.
so when you use an ability it instantly occurs…it’s not like fighting games where you have animation.
so like i said…either they should remove macros or add animations that delay time after use for abilities, it’s that simple.
but i think the gcd increase is a good enough solution for now.
Prot warriors are better now than at the start of BFA. At the start they had Ignore Pain and Intercept on the GCD. This caused most Prot Warriors to abandon ship during the beta and play a different tank class. They have since removed Ignore Pain and Intercept from the GCD in 8.1, but offensive cooldowns like Avatar are still on the GCD, which makes the spec feel worse imo.
That’s it then. NO MORE GCD! As long as my class plays better, I’m down.
But then again, I worry about other classes playing better too and am scared…
If you dont like automation, then stop with this NPC “orange macro bad” talk.
Some changes might not have felt great, but once again, imo the changes overall were good.
how is saying macros equate to automation bad logic?
waiting for the answer on that one, because that position is indefensible
I would prefer they go the route of FF14, and create a second rotation underneath the main rotation, for short buffs, burst abilities, and other extra utility. Keep the 1.5 second GCD, and
