Can we put the Mechagon crew in charge of all new zones?

I am just so glad that tomorrow morning all I have to do is complete the Mechagon WQ and flying is unlocked and I will not have have to grind Nazjatar anymore unless I want some pearls.

I find Mechagon’s appeal
very subtle. On the surface, it’s fairly bland to look at. Hills of junk looking like normal hills instead of hills of junk is a big one
and aside from that, there’s some weathered metallic architecture and normal Tirassian forest.

It begins to dawn on you the severity of the environmental damage on Mechagon. Seemingly, there was once a wide and beautiful variety of endemic flora and fauna, but it’s being extirpated by mechanized malfunctioning monstrosities alongside mutant, chemically “enhanced”, and/or cyborg wildlife competition. Ugly vermin and the like. Gallons upon gallons of industrial chemicals are spilling into the ocean every second, as well as seeping into the soil. In many places, only the toughest weeds grow, and there are almost no locations suitable for growing food. The last bastion of health is a steep mountain, liable to be automatically strip-mined in the future.

Naz is just terrible. It’s a pain to get anywhere. Flying doesn’t make it much better since the lower part has a bunch of “rock ceilings.” Everything there was designed to slow you down. I would have instantly noped out of that zone and ignored it forever if it wasn’t tied to flying, but Blizzard had to bribe me with pathfinder. >.>

Mechagon is much better than any zone in BFA. There isn’t any malevolent terrain designed to slow you down. It’s mostly flat and open like the old vanilla zones, and you can quickly get to any part of the island with little effort. You even have the jetpack to help you get around quickly making flying not much of a big deal in this zone. This is what zone design should be like in the future.

While many don’t like Nazjatar, I like that my activities there don’t end once my dailies are done, I can grind out drop items from some mobs, every hour is an event, and in between all that I farm Algan mobs for pearls and benthic gear.

Mechagon is one of my all time favorite zone, but I may be a bit biased.

I called this on PTR.

Whoever green lit Nazjatar’s map from a functional (as opposed to cosmetic) standpoint probably deserves to be railroaded out of the industry.

Still plagued with Vers as the strong stat though.

Honestly, they just need mechagnomes in all new zones. It should be a law.

Rivets are an integral part to >medieval< fantasy armour, yes.

I feel like the number 1 reason people like mechagon is that its a wide open, mostly flat terrain, no real exploration needed, and you could fly almost immediately via jetpacks.

People always pick zones with the simplest design as the most interesting, it feels like.

Just from a functional pov.

Personally I like nazjatar and the ley line quests although I guess if you aren’t good at puzzles although I don’t think it’s even close to being one let alone difficult then you may not like it, but it’s the same old crap the only thing is naz is better looking overall but it isn’t a flat earther map.

What is going to happen when you find out that the same team was responsible for everything.

Nazjatar is my favorite zone. Hope Blizzard will make more zones like this.

I’m going to disagree with you there. I would rather quest Nazjatar than Desolace any day. I would rather quest Nazjatar than Silithus. In fact, Najatar is a pretty damn good zone and there are a hella lot of places I would rather not be. In fact, I think Nazjatar is better than Vol’dun and Drustvar. IMO Nazjatar is probably in my top handful of zones. I think Vashj’ir is probably the worst zones ever, sadly Blizzard put a lot of work into that zone and no one really liked it due to how the questing was IMO.

Nazjatar is a pretty good accept for a 2 things so far IMO and one of them is an issue in Mechagon as well. My #1 complaint is how swarmed you get with mobs and you can’t seem to kill them all before you get more. If I wasn’t on a spec that could heal I would never make it anywhere. In fact, I can’t quest as an Arms Warrior in Nazjatar, it’s basically impossible at this time. That has more to do with the spec than the Zone. #2 is not enough flight paths. It just takes to long to get anywhere.

My biggest problem with anything right now is that I am going to have to do all the quest everyday on 2 characters because of how stupid pathfinder works.

I agree with you on Najzatar. It’s visually appealing and the quests are pretty good with even the bad ones being tolerable. I will say that getting around on foot sucks but the layout of the zone is not bad so I’m a little conflicted here because I want to see more design like this but I want a better way to travel around that isn’t necessarily flying.

A lot of the zone feels wasted as well. It’s got a great vertical layout but there is nothing being done with any of it. Same with the underwater caves. Not that I’ve seen yet anyway.

The only thing I don’t like about Mechagon is that zone was complete garbage until I got addons to track rares and their locations. Now that I have some direction the zone is a lot more engaging. Personally I feel like that wasn’t the right way to go about it. Not sure how other players feel about the “No direction - go explore” concept.

Totally agree, some added FP in Najzatar and it will be rockin, Mechagon on the other hand
I don’t like as much so far, it’s densely packed with mobs like the Trogg area. I really think they are trying to bring back that vanilla Murlock feel of being swarmed, but that should only be happening to you because you screwed up and pulled bad. Not so in Mechagon, you just get swarmed no matter what.

Let’s not get carried away. Mechagon is more fun than Nazjatar for sure but I wouldn’t like to see every zone like Mechagon.

The double jump mechanic makes the jetpacks more fun than flying mounts IMO.

This.

Unlike pretty much everything else so far on BFA, this little island actually makes you want to circle around it to find this or that.

Agreed Mech has been awesome!
especially as an Engineer lots of stuff to do.

It would be cool to have zones actually tailored around professions like this one is kinda.

People like Mechagon because of the jet packs. I think the actual lesson here is that they should put the crew who wants to let players fly in charge of all new zones. And in charge of the game overall, for that matter.
