The survivability offsets it. I just need enough time to get over from clicking the mouse on the mob (because tab is on the bad side of the keyboard from me) to starting to use my spells. Usually I start with Glaive Toss and then by the time they’ve reached me I am ready to go.
Now that I have my keybindings different it is even easier. Num lock no longer autoruns, just makes it possible for me to use the number keys. So it’s arrow keys for movement, click mouse on mob, num pad keys for my spells (except for the - and = movements, which are in reach of my good hand.)
