Can we please get some visibility?

(This post was written specifically with Housing in mind but it really does apply to most if not all aspects of the game.)

I get that Housing is a brand new feature that is constantly being updated and iterated upon. However, its current status is such a mess, not to mention inconsistent, that it does not feel like a complete feature. It’s like being sold a car that drives but the stereo system is “coming soon”, windows stop working every now and then, and with every maintenance, the AC system acts up. At this point I’d wonder, “was this product even really compete?”

To mitigate this feeling, a growing sentiment among wow players en masse, I recommend some visibility and communication into your process. Obviously no one is entitled to it, nor do we want a complete internal roadmap shared with us. But some updates, or even a blog post about the state of the game, or broad strokes on a priority list of fixes would be very much appreciated.

People have genuinely lost faith in your competence with all the bugs, design decisions (war on add-ons), business practices (hearthsteel, raising sub fees), and now you’re losing good will and grace with your silence.

Could you elaborate a little on what’s currently bothering you?

Yeah, I don’t see any issues. Save for the one bug that prevented people from jumping into housing on the day 12.0.5 launched.

And that bug was fixed pretty quickly with no massive side-effects. I know quite a few folks who were genuinely concerned they might lose housing progress or that their house might be erased, but neither of those things happened.

Behind the curtain is private.

Also no matter what they share, it’ll get dumped on.

There is a known bug where the flooring resets to the “default” flooring (I forget its name) as soon as you log out, no matter how many times you change it. There’s a big thread for it over in the bug reports forum. It’ s happening to me, and to everyone I know that does housing.

If you’re using the “default” flooring, you’ll never see it.

I haven’t done any decorating since the patch launched. Apparently the floors are still bugged, but I think the Folk Dark bug is fixed, yeah?

I’ll focus on housing since there are numerous other threads covering other topics:

  1. Bugs galore with no mention of a fix incoming. We’re talking graphical inconsistencies in interior walls to the recent floor not saving bug.

  2. Plot sizes which have been drastically shrunk since Beta → Now. Yet somehow any items placed before this nerf have remained out of bounds. So clearly this was a design decision and not a technical constraint. So why the nerf? What’s the thought process behind it? Will the restriction be done away with increasing housing levels? Basically it’s deafening radio silence.

  3. Lighting not working outside. Similar to 2 - it wasn’t working due to a technical limitation. We understood that. Then some items were working. Now they are not working again.

  4. Unique and eye-catching items available only with hearthsteel. Will there be comparable items available with in-game resources?

  5. Housing levels… What is the vision here?

  6. What was the game breaking bug?

I’m not asking for precise dates or ironclad plans that I can hold over their head. But it would be nice to know what their intentions are. “We want you to be able to use x,y,z lighting items outside and we are currently working on it and hoping to have it ready soon” is better than radio silence.

that’s just carhagen, he never posts anything bad about blizzard and frequently pretends something isn’t wrong. i don’t even know if he’s subscribed. this is just what he’s known for. ignore his posts if possible.

Then you must be blind, willfully so perhaps.

Except they’ve literally done watercooler chats in the past and they were well-received :man_shrugging:

I think the only change I would like to see is more housing decor dropping that can be sold on AH if a player does not want it.

Also having multiple ways to obtain decor. So I don’t need to run an old raid or dungeon 18 times for 18 of the same item. I like HOUSING not speed farming.

Well then I suppose we need all our information served like that!

If it works do it up

I’m pretty sure that bug has been fixed, or otherwise I haven’t run into it because none of the floors reset in my house when I log out. Some of my rooms use stone floors; others use timber floors. No resets.

I’m assuming by ‘beta’ you mean early access?

Because you didn’t get to keep any progress from beta, meaning no items should be ‘out of bounds’ also, housing plot sizes have not changed from early access to now.

So a massive X to doubt on this one.

This isn’t a significant issue. What Blizzard stated with regard to hearthsteel was that only a minority of decor items would be in the shop and no racial-themed items would be in the shop. Seeing as 12.0.5 dropped 300+ new decor items on us that can all be earned in-game, I don’t see any problem with the store having a small amount of fancy items.

The only issue with hearthsteel is the price of some of the items, which is something Blizzard addressed pretty quickly when negative feedback came in.

anyway, it’s tuesday and the floor glitch is still there.

Hasn’t been fixed.

Beta and early access had the same initial parameters. Then we got a patch (the one that introduced visible plot borders) that nerfed this. Items are now out of bounds.

There was also another change after this, the patch that introduced separate colours to the 3 axes to rotate objects that changed how an object interacts with plot boundaries. Instead of the centre of the object interacting with the boundary, the edges now do so you can’t have a tree branch sticking out of the boundary, for instance.

So feel free to doubt but you’re coming across as totally uninformed and having way too many opinions for being as wrong and uninformed as v you are.

Plenty of issues. Several wood beams and tiles have been shifted out of place inside and out which makes it very frustrating. Imagine spending hours working on a spiral staircase for it to be out of place after a patch. All while not having the ability to save your layout.

Right now there is no visibility or communication to address if the Devs even know or care about inconsistencies and bugs like these

Oh, lighting is totally broken inside houses. It’s emitting the wrong values so decor and dyes are totally off.

Yet another bug.

Well. You’re just lucky, then. Because it’s not fixed.

According to Blizzard, it’s fixed NOW. Or at least will be, when the games available again (I’m assuming the 7-8 AM Friday maintenance I saw last night is still in process).
