I’ve been playing on linux for a long time, it works just fine. Currently with Pop!_OS 22.04 LTS, Wine 7.2, Nvidia 525.105.17. I’ve not had any trouble with it at all. Heck I played nonstop for 3 hours last night just to see all the new content.

What I found very odd about 10.1 was that the system settings for Warcraft are reporting that I’m running DirectX 12 which simply isn’t possible, it should be DX 11. But who am I to complain? Game looks great, plays great. And it has the huge bonus of, ya know, not being Windoz.

I admire your optimism, but c’mon… if it hasn’t happened after 18½ years, it might just be time to accept reality.

Here is the only reason they arent going to do a Linux build and its also the barrier for them to try.

It is not profitable. The money investment into doing what you are asking is greater than the potential gain for them. Thats it. And if making a Linux build becomes a profitable venture, you can be sure that they will do it.

I know you like to troll and make up obtuse counter points, but Acti/Blizz have teams of financial analysists for the purpose to make sure there is profitability in ventures. They have most likely done the cost and P&L breakdown of doing it, and the money isnt there.

Maybe the money will be there one day, but currently, it just isnt viable financially.

See. Making obtuse and objectively wrong counterpoints. Here you are assuming that the bulk of “unknown” has to be Linux. That 3.8% that is marked unknown, is just as likely to be anything other than Linux. So you cannot say realistically its closer to 7% unless you have facts to support such. Otherwise it sits at 3.8% unknown.

I will try not to patronize you and take digs at paranoia, or anything like that. While I do agree that cell phones, have become pretty invasive, as well as targeted advertising ect. And I do agree that the passive information gathering that goes on for targeted advertising is unsettling and wrong. There are just so many ways to leave a fingerprint.

Driver’s License? Credit Cards? Bank Cards? Work History? Social Security?

Now I can believe that you dont have a phone. But not having any credit cards, means no credit history. Which means no loans. Mortgage, Car, Condo, Apartment ect. I know people can and do live on cast, but it is severely limiting as to what you can do.

I am just genuinely curious what you are concerned about, with the information gathering?

For me, I realize the cybersecurity risks and take what steps I can to protect my finances and assets. But as far as spying? I cant really think of what I do, or search for, or watch, or buy, that I would really be concerned with anyone knowing.

Miracles happen, what if Microsoft buys a Linux distro and all of a sudden Linux goes full mainstream on desktops as well, haha, it’s unlikely, but I’m just throwing random ideas.

Get yourself a Virtual Box and run Windows on it, and run wow from that. I dont know if it will work but I know you can run wow or any OS from a virtualbox.

The idea was popular a decade ago, but seems to have fallen off the radar. The inertia of a monopoly is too strong.

Irony when smartphone OS Android is open sourced and why it been toe to toe with Apple as power users loves it and can mod it. Cuba and North Korea is still here :kissing_closed_eyes:

Linux makes up less than 3% of the worlds computers OS. The only reason they are “more secure” is because less than 3% isn’t worth attacking in mass.
And guess what? Less than 3% isn’t worth spending money and time developing for either.

the reason its so secure is because there are SO MANY varieties of linux you would have to know how to hack each one. And, also because more people that actually know how to hack are hacking windows users because windows is so much more common.
