For the purpose of game mechanics, there’s no difference. Moonglaives (and bladed tonfa, and recently some forms of bladestaff) are scooped under the umbrella of “warglaives.” Troll glaives are literally warglaives in all but name, and despite the technicality, the ones obtainable from Zandalar are also classed exclusively as warglaives.
It’s like “polearms” encompassing pikes, spears, tridents, halberds, scythes, and actual glaives.
So what we’re getting at is that this isn’t a warglaive:
I mean we already have glaive models that are listed as sword. I forget the name but they’re from WOD. Even sheath on the back
They really should open the legendary mog to more classes. Make a new model thats demon hunter only if you need to keep demon hunters from crying about it
Game mechanics don’t decide anything though. For the purposes of game mechanics, literally noone can die because half the population can resurrect them.
No. And we’re not fooled by that addendum at the end. You only mention the rogue dagger because noone cares about that tmog.
Okay but half of them look bad and basic. Outside of raid drops, weapons look severely underwhelming. In the case of 1h swords we only have 8 or so options that sheath on the back
In that same vein, shadowmourne should be changed to dk only
I agree that a lot of the designs are basic but I haven’t seen any designs that look downright bad or aren’t viable, so they are still valid options.
I strongly disagree with this.
Personally, I find the majority of raid drop flashy. Now that is fine for my flashier characters but I also like basic for my characters with a plainer style and pretty or rough or eclectic or wherever for my character with that type of style.
First off, why do you need 1h swords to be sheathed on the back.
Second off, you just said you have eight options so you can already sheath swords on your back if you really need to. (although why you would need to is beyond me).
Third of all, warglaives are not swords, they are warglaives.
In that same vein, shadowmourne should be changed to dk only

I don’t have a problem with that. Campaign for it and I will back you.
Class disctinction is important, I agree. But it doesn’t come from weapon mogability when there are some weps that look like other weps. In fact, it offers MORE flavor and variety by easing these restrictions.
Again, if DH only used glaives - this whole argument might be different. But they use other weapons too. The distinction isn’t there except with all of these 2-sided blades that have no connection to a DH.
Think you missed the point of what is being asked here, especially since the ONLY two Moonglaives in game…are actually labeled as Warglaives. The DH class is unique with it’s animations, their wings, their double jump and their MASSIVE amount of customization available only to that class.
I own all of them and have had all of them since wrath, which was the last time they added any (except the warglaives from wod pvp vendors that sheath on the back that non dh can use)
“Why do you need 1h swords to be sheathed on the back” Wait hold up are you actually asking someone why they want a personal cosmetic preference? That’s the entire point of Transmog - looking how you want within the boundaries of your class (IE: A mage not wearing solid Paladin gear). Sheathing a sword on the back doesn’t make that any less?
Second: “You have 8 options” Yeah, 8 swords can sheath on the back out of literal hundreds. Posing and weapon placement is as much as a personal preference as choosing your weapon type.
Third “Warglaives are not swords” Yeah no, wrong again. The original Glaives of Azzinoth were labeled as swords and they were used by multiple classes. They used 1-handed sword animations. On top of that, what is the difference between these:
And this:
3 double-edged weapons, yet they’re all different classifications.
If Warglaives in Wow were demon-infused, rune adorned weapons that befitted a Fel-ridden Demon Elf, I wouldn’t be arguing. But every WG introduced post BFA has been themed around everything but demon hunters
This warglaive made to fit the armored footman look of the Warfront pieces.
These Glaives - one made to represent Maldraxxus (there’s no Demon Hunters in Maldraxxus) and the other made to represent the Forsaken weapons seen in the Darkshore Warfront.
I’m all for keeping some boundaries in game. Keep classes in their armor type, absolutely. But easing up the weapon restrictions (within reason ie: No 2 handed swords for your priest or double crossbows for your monk) would be seen as a huge win for most of the community - except for those who purposefully want to limit peoples transmog.
I know it’s counter intuitive to this thread, but I’d actually love a middleground: Azzinoth Blades get an HD remake and are DH only, OG warglaives open up and all melee classes get to use Glaives.
Pull a “Hand of Rag 2.0” (the updated Rag hammer looks 1000% better than the original) but give that special unique set to the class that served Illidan himself.
I think any rogue that has possession of a set of warglaives and is on an account that has unlocked the transmog for a demon hunter should be able to use them for transmog.
Look through the forums its very obvious people do care that they cannot use weapons they earned and farmed for. Also lore changing is not a good excuse because this lore happens to be tied to something tangible. Example tommorrow lore is changing and paladins can no longer wield any swords so any sword mogs you used or earned as a paladin are getting changed. That’s effectively what happened with the warglaives for warriors and rogues.
