I’ve already done enough to get the gear… the rewards currently are basically grey items
Except you’re looking to gear your offspec to the same degree as your current spec, so it wouldn’t be grey items. You’d still need to minmax for that spec just like you did your main spec.

If you are doing offspec, the gear is more than fine.
Your asking for 400+ emissary pieces, basically free loot. Emissaries were not done to gear you to the teeth, it’s just something there to do, and get a lucky casino roll or to catch up on an alt.
You have plenty of ways to get ‘‘alternative’’ gear.
Serious progression guys get 3-4-5 alts fully geared and all they complain about is how boring the content is, lol.
Reforging seems to be the issue a long with random drops being too low for the trait you want.

Except if you’re going from tank to DPS or DPS to Healer, or whatever else you may play, all of those require different items from stat prio, trinkets, to azerite pieces. It’s not something you can just throw azerite pieces on and say you’re that spec now, it’d still require minmaxing if you want to be good at that spec and do damage/healing correctly.
And regardless of this, you’d still be hoping that RNG would be in your favor to get the right azerite pieces from an emissary that’s the equivalent of you, and all these other people putting in actual effort for the ilvl they want. Not to mention, if you want a specific trait you’d be better off aiming for it through M+ or any other form of actual content.
It wasn’t because they gave out 400 gear. It was because they gave it to just one faction. But I think you already knew that.

Half-truth, unless you are doing serious mythic progression then it’s really not as important to min max as it is to just get the right azerite piece and better stats for your spec.
So why worried about it then?
You can only target specific traits through the raid which is random or saving 2 months of M+ caches to get 1 specific piece
I don’t mythic progression and it’s never been my interest truthfully, but as someone who does Heroic progression and all the other forms of content that is available, I still try to be good for that said content. I aim for my BiS and other items for that spec simply because like I said I like to minmax for things to go a bit smoother is all.
I disagree with it too. There are far too many sources of powerful gear from easy content. The M+ weekly, warfront quest, and world boss give way too good of gear. I don’t really PvP so I can’t comment on that.
The biggest problem with this gear though is that it’s all completely random. I am more in favor of a currency and vendor system for both PVE and PvP.

I totally understand, just saying at that point is up to the player, but when you cross into mythic more things come into play where it really becomes a necessity if you don’t want to keep your group back.
Honestly I have no problem with TR. TR can be gained through DE/Scrapping azerite pieces you don’t need from the M+ you did and got something not worth using. You can also get it for your weekly chest. While I think the cost for specific aimed pieces are extremely high, theres also the RNG one that you can get that’s lower cost. If you run M+ cause you genuinely like that form of content, or for the piece you want, then you can eventually get the item you want. PvE still got a vendor regardless.
Complete agreement. Absolutely. You and I agree on almost everything (as far as I see from the forums). My complaint with the OP is the asking of Emissaries to be bumped up to 400 item level (involving the most necessary and intricate part of our gearing system in this expansion, no matter how stupid it is) and, as a result, gaining heroic item level loot for 20 minutes of WQ’s.

Should never have to downgrade your gear.
Who needs the group anyway when you can just solo it and put it on youtube.
