Can we give tanks and healers a reason to be tanks and healers not just a dps who takes damage or dps who heals

We’ll see if it does well, but not much is changing to make healhance better next phase. They’ll get a little more spellpower with Mental Dexterity, but it’s not that much without investing significantly into AP with enchants and at that point you’re kind of gimping yourself in other ways.

And Priests were only really prioritized in P1 because of the dispel on Kelris. The actual healing requirements were very minimal in BFD.

Healing being minimal or dps check being very low has never stopped sweats from looking for the best. Warcraft logs is literally a product of that. People requiring 80+ parses to join their raid that’s been proven to be cleared by green parsers. Blizzard gives one cool ability meant for spellhance enhancement shamans and now shaman discord is full of ele and resto melee builds lmao. Blizzard just needs to learn if they intend something for a spec make it unusable by the others

You’re acting like everyone is looking for max DPS from their healers though, and that’s just not the case. I’ve raided quite a bit this phase inside and outside of my guild (with my main and alts) and no one has ever brought up healer DPS, no matter how good the group was.

It’s probably a thing for the very very high-end guilds that want the absolute shortest kill times possible for the juiciest DPS parses, and even then they’d probably bring shadow priests or mages instead, but no one else really cares about it.

And on the resto shaman discord there’s a full-resto build as well as ele-resto / enh-resto. Full-resto just isn’t talked about as much because there’s not much to talk about or theorycraft there. You cast healing wave and chain heal, that’s pretty much it.

It really feels like you’re making a mountain out of a molehill here.

What videos did you even watch for the tier lists? I’m watching Sardaco’s, and so far he’s only mentioned healer DPS for holy paladins, but mainly as a negative since a majority of their runes are DPS runes.

Tanks and healers who insist on “just doing x” are just lazy people hoping to get carried while they barely pay attention. Even back in TBC when I originally got into raiding the good tanks/healers found a way to prioiritize their damage while still doing their jobs. Choosing to play poorly is acceptable, asking for the game to cater to your choice by forcing it on others is not.

I think having more Heal/Tank mechanics would be better than just increasing boss dmg / healing requirements.
Example would be bringing in more tank swaps, and positioning changes for tanks, and maybe some stuff that needs to be dispelled or dmg that you need to be proactive and pre-cast/mitigate for healers.

If you want Healing to be more engaging and harder… then that’s been done… Patch 4.0… it didn’t go over well. Otherwise stop whining about Healer being boring while you refuse to squeeze in DPS.

So the preferred Tank will be whoever can take the hits while still pumping out the most DPS, and the preferred Healer will be whoever and compensate for those hits while not running OOM or bringing out DPS still.

Now what?

Now healing and tanking are inherently more interesting :expressionless:

I think there should actually be less dispels. I’d much rather have it be somewhat of a healing check rather than a comp check, but I guess with 20 mans it’s kind of unlikely you won’t have a priest / the appropriate class to get rid of whatever dispellable debuff.

They haven’t changed. That’s currently the situation we’re in right now.

The preferred Tank is the Tank that can deal the most DPS while surviving.
The preferred Healer is the Healer that can deal the most DPS while not OOMing and keeping the Tank alive.

Nothing changed.

Idk what patch 4.0 reference too but this is SoD ok not the same as before gears better then ever so now it’s just cake through raids, again just make all healing come from self healing and make the entire game DPS based

Then why are you commenting?

ok bro. SoD changed nothing

In theory, sure. But I don’t think very many people care about it that much.

I think most groups / guilds are fine with whatever, as long as they can clear the raid in a reasonable amount of time. Shamans were just an exception because they did so much DPS as tanks, it was impossible to rip threat off them, and they brought some nice utility.

Dont have to be naxx geared lol. After the first 2 weeks of prog, healers do close to nothing.

MC, healers do nothing.
BWL, healers do nothing.
AQ, healers do nothing.
Naxx, healers do nothing.

Its why we always progged with 8 or 9 healers, maybe more, then by end of phase we are at 4-5, and they are still beyond bored.

It sounds like you’re talking about NOT sod but from a normal classic experience which this is not, on classic I didn’t DPS during bosses they required me too heal throughout and not waste precious mana, now that we get free casts and better healing options, plus some mana Regen runes on top of the content already being easy just means the class is obsolete. The thing we wanted to do which is heal does not matter really, we can’t compare ourselves to DPS on the meter. At the end of the day tanks and healing is losing its core vision the whole element on which we chose to play the class is being watered down. There’s also mage healing which requires you too do DMG too heal so if you DO wanna do that they have that option but no real option for raw healers

If you’re so obsessed with being a sour puss that you can’t even follow a basic comment, I’m not sure what else to tell ya kid

For sanity it’s best to just nod and ignore, and occasionally chuckle when you realize it will bother certain posters. Trying to actually discuss with them is like talking to one of those children’s toys that says an animal name when they press the button. They will respond, but generally not with any context of the actual discussion at hand, just with their pre-scripted complaints.

Yeah I quit retail because healers are basically required to DPS now so instead of focusing on what their role is they now have to be good at two roles while DPS can just do what they always do. I don’t mind throwing in damage during downtimes but I’m not going back to having to manage DPS and HPS. I’ll just play another game. I enjoy classic because its chill and I don’t have to sweat trying to keep up players while hitting a dps breakpoint so we don’t wipe

If we want the spec does its role only than they have to change:

  1. Bosses need to hit hard and faster to require tanks to wear defensive stats talents to live and still hold threat
  2. reduce healing done and mana cast by 3/4 to off set the new damage incoming and make it take few cast to top people off.
  3. reduce the threat of dps specs down to half or more.
  4. Make Debuffs insanely hit harder or can’t remove them to make healers heal though it.

Soooo No everyone have to minimax dps to keep up. Its just how it is.

Misleading, because you can be.

A tank that takes 20% less damage than another, means you strain your healers less - enabling you to progress further than otherwise could be attained for your group’s skill and gear levels.
