The argument 7 guild had was amount of spawns with knock backs with up time of the dps.
I was there.
Problem with some ppl believe everyone on videos now days. If FB or YouTube or twitch posted it must be true.
The gnome is correct. The boss was extremely bugged on release, but was hotfixed. He then went for months in an un-nerfed state that was about numbers, as Ion’s famous EJ post is an example.
Nobody else was… WoW I let my wife know I never played vanilla wow. She was my GF at the time. Lol she would call me a liar.
The Chinese guild 7 was mostly on it.
Or members of it.
This video was tough to watch with all the standing around lol. That priest could have done a considerable amount of damage by just wanding.
I don’t know if it’s impossible or not but there are major differences in game knowledge today vs 15 yrs ago. Until someone can show mathematical proof it was impossible I will remain skeptical.
sigh the problem is not the dps the issues is that with bugged cthun is the bugs and the spawns which drew off the dps
say it would take 200dps a min with all the bs bugs glitches rng the actual dps needed was closer to 3-400 just to deal with the encounter. the people that want the glitched version back are not factoring this in as well as ignoring the game breaking bugs.
Wait, we’re getting AQ? Thought MC was it. Feels like it.
It’s always been said the fight was “mathematically impossible” yet you’re claiming something else?
The reason it was supposedly “Mathmatically impossible” was due to these bugs. DPS dying in the stomache when they should be alive due to a bug (DPS loss) spawns still coming that you have to deal with (DPS loss on c’thun) tentacles spawning under people knocking them into the air and making them die of fall damage when they couldn’t do anything from it (DPS loss on c’thun)
it was more than just 'Poeple couldn’t do that much dps" that was leading to these issues.
People are way too focused on the “Mathmatically impossible” line.
And ignoring the “Why it’s mathmatically impossible” reasons.
Every boss takes months until you get the strategy for it. Even retail bosses take months. The difference is that those months are utilized during beta testing by the best guilds in the world, so by the time the bosses hit the live game the strategies are already worked out. The only obstacle at that point is acquiring the gear to beat the DPS restrictions. MC was never hard by itself. It took months in Vanilla because no one knew the strategies, Deadly Boss Mods didn’t exist, and no one bothered to min-max their rotations and/or gear. The majority of boss difficulty is now overcome through third parties. There are a bunch of YouTube videos explaining fight mechanics, DBM warns you whenever something bad is about to happen, and there are many guides out there describing every class’s optimal build/rotation/gear. If you want to experience true Vanilla difficulty, find a bunch of fourteen year olds who have never played the game before, and prohibit them from using any game guides or addons. Then you can spend months in MC just like you always dreamed.
The priest wasn’t entering combat because their job was to res DPSers who died, and entering combat prevents them from resing. You’re just not familiar with Vanilla strategies. This is a perfect example of why MC is so much easier now. Players figured out that if everyone hits the boss, it dies before the need for a res.
You serious Clark? Rewatch that again. He’s in combat in the first second of the video lol…
I stand corrected. However, he was also moving 90% of the time that he wasn’t casting. Just how much DPS are you expecting out of that wand? Also, by the end of the fight, C’Thun had healed to full. In what way is this video supposed to convince us that this boss is killable?
I am 100% in favor of this and also think if Blizz was smart it could be a great marketing gimmick for them.
Did you know that you can move during the gcd of wands and it will not cancel the autocast of wands?
The purpose of this video was to showcase the average game knowledge of an experienced raider 15 years ago. Game knowledge has drastically improved… something I’m sure no sane human being would disagree with.
I think it’s easily reasonable to believe everyone, including healers, could improve an average +50 dps each. Add that up and you get an extra 2000 raid dps (+120,000 damage per minute). Cthun has 999,300 hp.
In the video, Death and Taxes had him to 30% at the 4 minute mark. If everyone did an average +50 dps, then in 4 minutes that would have added up to 480,000 bonus damage. More than enough to finish him.
yes but you keep ignoring the game breaking bugs this is were all the dps loss was at this is what made cthun unbeatable. YOU CANNOT BEAT A BUG. No one here is saying that people are not better than 15 years ago we are saying that its a concrete wall and you cant beat a concrete wall by headbutting it.
The video alone shows room for improvement on 4 different players to make up more than 50 dps each. Bugs or not you can’t disagree with the people in this video are very bad in today’s standards.
You’re blaming the low standard you have for the average player on bugs while I am saying game knowledge is so drastically better now that people can improve regardless of those bugs and still beat the boss. You haven’t said anything of value other than there were bugs.
ok tell me how your gonna beat the insta kill tentacles that spawn underplayers throwing them in the air mercing them. or when c’thun spawns tents in his stomach wiping out the dps, or when he eats only healers thus trapping all your healers in his stomach. DPS IS NOT WHY PRE CTHUN IS UNBEATABLE. these were all things that happend in pre cthun and they were not intended
