Can we get the C'thun Ion himself claimed was impossible to kill

if i remember correctly they changed it from spawning 3 to spawning one i can’t remember everything because it was a long time but there was a lot of tweaks to it.

Why do you have QQ about it. If they did give it would only last 2 weeks to a month.

Again 3 vs 1 spawn is a nerf. More dps/hps would solve it.

because i would rather fight cthun then waste 2 weeks- month time as the retail kiddies get to “experience” broken.

yea which was done so that people could focas fire the dps on the boss and better bring the damage on him what dont you understand about the fact that it was impossible because of mechanics

EJ forum was taken down some time ago. I read the old C’thun discussions years ago but it’s been awhile. However Ion’s famous post has been preserved in various places.

I did find this from Reddit:

C’Thun was released on January 23. He was first downed April 25. All of the reports of the first kill say that it took place “hours after Blizzard made additional adjustments to the fight”. Going through the patch notes, I have found these relevant changes to C’Thun:

Patch 1.10, March 28:

  • Removed the stacking acid from the Flesh Tentacles in the C’thun encounter.
  • Digestive Acid now increases its effect over time during the C’thun encounter.
  • Fixed a bug that could allow for the Digestive Acid debuff to be removed.
  • Lowered the amount of knockback dealt by Giant Tentacles.
  • Tentacles should no longer spawn on players who have just been knocked back by a previous tentacle.

Note, this was nearly a full month before the first kill. The next patch, 1.10.1, has no changes to C’Thun’s encounter. The next patch, 1.10.2, was May 2, so a full week after C’Thun was downed. Whatever changes were made on April 25 were not documented in a normal patch but clearly had a huge impact on the encounter.

no i don’t want to waste a month as all the idiots that don’t want to listen to the vets get their faces punched in. btw even after they fixed him c’thun was still a hard fight. people were trying to beat him for 89 days till the fix after the fix came they already knew what to do it was just now possible.

Why do people love to talk about what is impossible? Especially in a game, like do you feel safe when those boundaries are drawn? Where is your “impossible you say? Challenge accepted” attitude?

Does Cthun really need to die in the first 6 hours of release?

Release the so called impossible version for a month.

its not its not a numbers game the what was making it impossible is the mechanics the mechanics prevented players from doing the necessary dps its the point keep repeating.

  1. you couldnt stack you had to spread out green beam
  2. you people were randomly eaten ( and all the glitched bs that came with it)
  3. you had the 3 eyes spawn which you had to dps down ie pulling dps off the boss
    c’thun was a broken fight and the its the mechanics that broke it not the numbers.

Heres another thing to consider, a few private servers were running a lot of modded difficulties as well, I recall one that had all mobs with 2 or 3x the damage and health, and they still blew through it without much issue though you were expected ti go very minmaxed on world buffs

ok the damage required sorry im pulling this from my backside because i cant remember it was something like 280 a min which is very doable on “paper” the problem is that the mechanics of the fight tied up your dps by eating them, outright killing them because of a broken mechanic or by drawing of the dps to deal with the spawnd. its why the troll of a gnome can correctly say that the numbers are theoretically possible because theoretically you can do that much dps a min to down him. the problem there is a little * there. You cant do it because you have to deal with adds ( if you dont you die) and being eaten (ie you cant dps) as well as the lethal glitches ( yay broken).

yes they are simple the problem is they still what was breaking c’thun also glitches are not a mechanics and c’thun was full of them.

Stop trying to trivialize a God… Bring on the true prenerfed fight.

But that’s what the mechanics still are, even post-nerf, right?

I remember reading somewhere that he also brought random players into his stomach. So you could have 5 healers in there, giving them no way get out. Kinda hard to recover from losing 5 healers regardless of how “elite” you are. That being said I’m all for a few weeks of prenerf C’Thun just to see if anyone can actually do it.

… no. I see no reason to bring back bugged versions.

Okay say you must sustain 100 dps over the entirety of a 5 minute fight. 300 seconds right? 300x100=30000 right? Now say with modern knowledge the raid is able to put out 300 dps. That 30000 damage can be done over 100 seconds now. That allows 200 seconds to deal with fight mechanics where damage cant be optimal? I’d say its entirely possible and I challenge anyone to prove me wrong.
