Don’t expect the table to all of a sudden become a gold bonanza this expac. So many whiners in the forums about the gold generation that it’s been negative this whole expac. Unless you are swimming in resources they are worth far more buying the bonus roll tokens than any of the missions return.
Blizz listened to all the whining during legion and made the table worth nothing.
The mission table seems to be a feature someone at Blizz was too proud of in WoD to just let die. I would like to see it fade into obscurity
It’ll be the fourth iteration if it makes it another expansion, although every expansion it’s become less and less invasive. In WoD it was most of the game play. In Legion, it had some tie into the class order hall campaign, but nothing much else. And was free reputation. And then for BFA, it had a couple of things to do with the war campaign, but that’s it.
To be frank, the mission table doesn’t bother me at all, and it can be managed from your phone. Seems fine to me.
Ehh, i enjoy the mission table but only in WoD cause it makes sense there since you were the commander.
Meanwhile in Legion or BFA, i’m just another foot solider and yet the leaders of my said class order hall are too lazy to operate it and rather have me, a stranger do it for them.
While i do grow tired of this mission table and hope to see it gone in the next expac, if they do decide to keep it in there, i really hope they improve upon it then rather then making it a thing that is just there.
In legion i was making 150k a month per alt just from the table! So not sure why you feel that way. Even now there’s gold from the tables. The runes sell well. The pet charms can be funneled to a character and 200 charms can get you pets which sell for a lot. So I’m not giving up on it.
Personally, I like this iteration of the Mission Table over the previous two expansion versions of them.
This version is optional and mostly for extra stuff like rep and small amounts of gold. There is nothing there that screams “Need to do it everyday” like with Legion with Story Gating and during WoD with the raid item quests, story gating, and massive amounts of daily gold.
The Mission Table has been slowly working it’s way out of existence as the expansions go on.
In WOD, they were so all about the Damn thing they added a second one. Locked a lot of progression behind it too.
In Legion, they were down to one table, but a lot of Class Story content was locked behind it.
In BfA, it’s… present. Even as this expansion has gone on, the relevance of the Table has diminished.
If I had to guess, with whatever comes next, the table will be almost entirely optional, or not even in the game.
I honestly haven’t really even bothered with the thing, I forget it exists most days lol
It’d be pretty neat if the mission table got turned into an RTS mission mini game. Imagine if you could actually control the three champions you choose to go on the mission and the success and bonus rewards were based on how well you did in the mission. It’d be a lot more interesting than bejeweled anyway and would be an awesome call back.
i’m curious about the people who are in favour of the mission table.
apart from ‘free stuff’ what do you get out of it? its has such limited gameplay function and options.
you select a mission, select some dudes, and then wait 1hr-2 days and recieve stuff you could get by acutally playing the game.
its less mechanically engaging than the phone games its based off.
Nah i actually want the mission table to be back, as in back to being bloody useful like WoD or Legion, currently it is completely trash along with the upgrades
Just saw this on the wowpedia 8.2.5 undoc patch notes:
World Quests and Missions now offer gold or war resources instead of Artifact Power to players who can no longer progress their Heart of Azeroth (level 70)
My guess is the gold amount offered will be the same as existing missions, which is around 200g. So nothing like WoD or Legion.
Its click it and forget it free bonus items.
I haven’t used the Mission table since 2 months into BFA & I have 14 level 120 , Just as a comparison in Legion There wasn’t a day during the whole expansion I didn’t use it on at least 8 characters.
The problem with the WoD/legion table was the more alts you had, the more gold you made. And it was a lot of gold.
The problem with taking that away is when players have lots of gold, blizzard makes lots of money.
During legion I boosted at least 3 toons, transferred at least 4, just about maxed out my blizzard balance, plus buying game time, pets, etc. all with gold. That makes blizzard money.
Now I pay my sub with cash. That’s $5 minus for blizzard every month I sub.
The other problem with taking away gold missions is the only really viable non-AH ways to make gold in BfA have been herbalism and selling dungeon runs. Is that really the kind of game economy people want? That sucks.
BfA table is a short sighted mistake. They took away gold that allowed lots of people the ability to do lot of things they wouldn’t normally do that made blizzard money and replaced it with herbalism.
They could have been so much more creative.
Agreed. It’s not fun to send your followers to ‘help evacuate Teldrassil’ or to ‘Scout Ashenvale’ when you want to do that scenario yourself. To me, the Mission Table is essentially sniping scenarios that I could & should be playing out.
I think the player power provided by it, as it currently stands, is rather insignificant. I feel you can pretty safely ignore the mission table in the current state. A good place for it to be.
I quite enjoy the offline progression the system offers, being able to use a resource (Garrison/orderhall/war/ect) gained from actively playing the game to continuously acquire rewards like Gold, Pets, Mounts, other currencies, and even AP while not playing is fine.
I think the BFA system is worse than the Legion system in regards to troops and champions. I can’t seem to find a lot of depth or customization in the current BFA system, so its not quite as fun to interact with as the Legion system was with it’s level of depth.
Mission rewards being a separate topic.
I don’t feel the AP (or TR) provided by the table is significant enough to be regarded as a concern for the majority of players.
I don’t think it’s the mission table idea as much as how they implemented it. Give it strategic elements, make it less of a Facebook game.
I’ve never enjoyed the mission table.
The WoD tables and shipyard was to me or at least my warlocks was kinda fun, easy, meaningful, the followers were fun to hunt down. I enjoyed hosting garrisons for others to DE their stuff, etc…, but…I didn’t care much for legion at all, class halls were good idea, but very far away from content and spread way out, like the warriors hall and warlocks hall. Although, the warriors hall has ports to the areas in legion, so…
In the end, I’d rather make new friends by chatting in the city, dueling, comparing xmog, etc… than sitting in front of a computer while sitting in front of a computer while minigaming on things i never did myself.
To mission tables I say: Leave and never come back.
