I was really excited to try out hardcore classic on official servers but I was hoping PVP would be implemented. Without battleground PVP I can’t really see myself enjoying the mostly single player experience of hardcore. Obviously dying in world PVP should leave you permanently dead. But, it would be really cool to be able to PVP in battlegrounds without the perma-death mechanic.

You do have PVP in Classic Hardcore.
You can organize Wargames to enter battlegrounds. The players that participate in the wargame still experience permadeath.
So, no, you can’t queue yourself for a battleground (which makes sense) But you can still participate in Wargame battlegrounds.

Death is permanent on hardcore servers. If they had left bgs in there would be no exception save the transfer off never to return.
There are still avenues for pvp either in the open world or via makgora. And Blizz stated there would be the ability to get the pvp trinket another way.

blizzard has already made the decision to close battlegrounds. that’s not gonna change
