Pretty much everyone thinks you are a meme so yeah.
I also thought it was funny you said you hardly knew som existed but judging by your post history you were highly active in som discussions especially towards the beginning.
So I chalk it up to you had a bad experience on som and want to watch the world burn.
Am I supposed to hang my head in shame or something? No sane person cares what the people in the cult are shouting from their altars of self pity, least of all me.
Whenever I criticize someone’s belief system its adherents go hysterical trying to defend and vindicate it. Comes with the territory. Thats life on forum derp for you.
Please quote these posts where I talk about SoM at length and condemn it for existing since you were desperate enough to read my entire post history.
I know it exists, I know why it exists but hitting the reset button at random intervals sullies my immersion in what is supposed to be a psuedo recreation of a living, breathing world. SoM aint for me. Be as offended as you want that I dont care about SoM like every other soft bellied drama queen without a clue.
I never so much as hit the tab to look at SoM servers let alone created a toon on one. All I know about it is it tanked faster than the titanic thanks in part to the myriad of posts on the subject.
I wasn’t desperate. I vividly remember your posts and comments from som. It takes 10 seconds to type in a date and see what you said about som by typing in som corpseknife.
But sure bro. You are all knowing and the server prophet of gaming. Trust me bro, etc etc.
Live in your own little world alone. On era. Away from the cultists who will be having the time of their lives on fresh. Without you.
And yes you absolutely were involved in som. Again, anyone on the forums can type in corpseknife som and see everything in 10 seconds. It takes zero effort.
Not that it matters but if I were to guess I’d assume you had a bad time with som.
I’d like the next SoM to mix it up and finally do Classic+ by creating better itemization like Druid tanking gear, minor tweaks like giving Paladins a taunt, tune DPS so it’s not just hunters and mages in Phase 1 and then locks and SPs being crazy OP in Phase 4, stuff like that. Make all of the specs playable, some more instances and instance quests, but no flying or anything like that.
i just want classic+ content for era and for fresh. the current way vanilla is set up is perfect for a classic+ baseline. just add new raids dungeons and battlegrounds ontop of vanilla content scaled properly to make the game a sandboxx mmorpg. have seasons every year and a half to bring new players into classic+. would take minimal effort to put more raids into vanilla and would be replayable for decades
Harm Touch?
They were pretty fun. Did you play ogre, troll or iksar?
As an enchanter I helped a number of melees/hybrids without the ability to gate (like hearth in wow) get the Worker Sledgemallet. Did you have it?
I admit more diversity in the end game would be interesting.
I would like to see more effort to recognize that people may not enjoy or play for both pve and pvp. There have been complaints that one must play both to be optimized for one or the other with an example that people felt the best weapons in general were available in pve which they did not enjoy. They felt there should be an equivalent pvp route to a similar weapon. So rewards could be added/adjusted. Just an example.
I also wonder if adding rated battlegrounds (or some type of mmr system) might be something that would quell (at least a bit) the frustration of players that want to win/play objectives vs those that are wanting participation trophies not even caring to get gud (that would include the damn bots).
But that’s “not Classic” so some will be up in their feelers about it.
I don’t mind. It’s interesting to me just to hear and consider some ideas.
I may not agree with you on some issues but damn if you don’t make reading your posts worth it. You have a way of writing that lends itself to visualization of your words that rarely fails to prompt a rl response from me. Totally off topic and I apologize to everyone but ngl I laughed out loud. Thanks.
SoM was and is a hot issue (similar to RDF for the Wrath crowd) but still distinct from “fresh”.
There’s going to be a lot of participation in those topics from everyone since there’s thread after thread created about it. We can have awareness that something exists but no real interest or knowledge of it if we don’t seek it out. There’s a lot of posters that describes when it comes to SoM or “fresh” or RDF.
We can all read Blizzard’s posts about their design intentions and watch the dialog amongst the players then suggest where improvement can be made. Each of us can decide how to assign weight to those comments. But there’s a big difference between “hey I know it’s not for me and I don’t like it but you do you” and “it’s cracked, you’re cracked and NO ONE SHOULD HAVE THIS”.
I’m well aware that this post is somewhat hypocritical but I want the dialog to continue not get shut down because the ideas gave way to a slap fight.
I appreciate that, thank you for the kind words and you are very welcome.
I have nothing against Fresh servers or the people who want them. I just don’t care for bad faith arguments on a topic where there is no argument to be had and where all opinions are equal. You like pve, I like pvp - we could all get along but some people make that impossible so I do my best to make an example out of them. They’re the negative element here, not me.
“but muh phases” is personal preference, not a legitimate reason for a new server and until people get wise to that, Ill continue to post my thoughts. If someone like yourself gets some amusement out of it, all the better.
I think I chose the scalie initially but everyone, even other evil folks, hated me so I changed to troll. Enchanters were a unique class that led to a alot of creative play. I juggled between SK and rogue. The fabled serrated bone dirk was the prized poession of my murder hobo.
I had a group that would check in different zones - even if we were just passing through - to throw out chanter/cleric/druid/shaman buffs. Or if you were playing during LDON should have hung out at the camps. Always tossing buffs there too.
We weren’t all out solo charming like the bamf class we were. Not always.
For me it just highlights how spoiled I got with WoW. People here complain about waiting 30 minutes to get a group formed. That was nothing compared to waiting/finding an Enchanter in EQ.
All I ever saw was moan-and-groan about why they can’t keep their character(s)…
Yeah, figured a season would start over, but when it’s gone on as long as this one…and for this kind of a game…one would actually expect some kind of alternative to keep the character or an explicit note upfront which states characters will be deleted at the end.
They didn’t know how long a season was, how long they would keep it going, what players would want, or what they would do afterward…
Thus we have what is a whole group of dead realms with a few stragglers and some folks playing “hoping” to get a free transfer off of SOM (mostly due to the experience buff, etc).
What needs to happen is SOM close 2nd week of January, clone service re-instated as a service in the shop, and all SOM realms reverted back to Classic Era, and lastly: all Classic Era realms (NA) consolidated into PVP NA East, West and PVE NA East, West, and NA RP.
No clusters, no bullpoop, and no more goofy butt SOM bleeding through to Classic Era (bugged encounters, items that shouldn’t exist, etc.).
