Down voting was abused, so theyâre not going to bring them back. Same deal with when they removed Dislike from Facebook.
Rather than bring down vote back, why donât we add a feedback window to the forum flag system like the in-game report function has?
Then again, itâs not like they probably donât know who does the trolling, afterall, after about the 5th of the same inflammatory thread deleted by the same OP, kinda hard not to notice a pattern, no?
He gets in my microwave too much.
Did I leave Attimisâ stove on when I left the house? Oi no complainin you! I paid for the lifetime use, not my fault my âlifetimeâ is eternal.
Still to this day the blue saying that we were âabusingâ the dislike button is one of the most ridiculous things they have said, on what planet does using the dislike button to indicate you disliked something constitute as abuse?
Iâm of the opinion that they removed them because the white knight types were getting disliked into oblivion for defending Blizzard on whatever hot topic we happened to be upset about, it was essentially a way for ideas and opinions to be voted on, and we all know how much Blizzard hates polls (unless theyâre created by them and done in a very specific manner thatâll probably give them the result they want).
Or people could grow up and stop acting like petty teenagers and just scroll past things they disagree with without needing to exact some sort of revenge on the poster.
removing the down vote was a good thing, was way too many immature forum regulars using it as a way to to humiliate other regulars no matter what they posted because they did not like them.
Downvotes or not, I feel like what we really need is for people to not be able to use their alts to abuse the systems, such as they are.
Downvotes are for cowards, if you donât like something tell them why
people wouldnât even read the post in many cases, just jump in the post to downvote because of a disagreement in the past, was good to get rid of them.
No down vote. Wouldnât hurt to remove upvotes also. The report function seems to be working fine.
If they ever do bring back down vote, it should be without blacking the post.
If we couldnât vote at all weâd be forced to respond instead or ignore.
Iâm perfectly fine with my name going beside my downvote just like it does with my upvote.
And itâs not cowardice, itâs laziness. If youâre going to insult someone like me, at least use the right insult.
You seem unusual, good for you. On reddit, which is where I see downvotes, there is no discussion with a lot of the comments that get downvotes, nobody improves or learns anything. It hides posts which the flag thing currently does, so there doesnât seem to be a benefit to adding them.
Arenât downvotes the reddit thing, OP?
Downvotes are important.
They needed to decouple hiding posts from Downvotes though. There was no logical reason they were part of the same system. Itâs entirely possible and reasonable to dislike a post while not finding it to be a rule-breaking post.
Assuming the bury function stays tied to Flags, then, yeah, bring back Downvotes.
The current system is pointless and might as well not exist. +20 means nothing. +200 means nothing. It all depends on how active the thread is and how many people would have disliked it were they give the option. Having both gives you a ratio so you can see at a glance if a topic (or post) is well received, controversial, or poorly received.
Having only likes just vaguely makes every post look somewhat positive, and unless youâre familiar with what the numbers typically look like, it really means nothing. Is 27 likes a lot for a thread with 200 posts? Idk. Would it have had 29 downvotes under the old system? Or 3? No way to know.
Itâs dumb.
So, yeah, bring back Downvotes (decoupled from Bury), or just delete voting / likes altogether, as theyâre meaningless without having both.
Downvotes already exist in Reddit⌠So why do we want it on everything?
And we need Meh votes, not a terrible post but not great either. And TL;DR votes, and kick votes where we can kick someone from the thread. And a button that lets us register to vote when that time comes.
And next to all those buttons, add a little arrow that looks like this â that when clicked on works like the back button on your browser, for people who realize nobody is going to care enough to jump out of their chair and scream because you downvoted their post in a topic that will soon be buried by 300 other topics you can click on and flag.
i donât like a lot of things im not gonna respond to every post i donât like.
i would assume the original intent of liked posts were a way for devs to look into something the community highly rated on. this kinda works but we donât know what the other side thinks. the system is also half baked on reddit because it doesnât have 2 options. itâs either up or down on the same vote⌠i canât explain it well but think of the old YouTube like system. you could see positive and negative votes.
but most importantly, blizzard doesnât care about us so the system is pointless.
