Can we get class restricted servers

Meh.
Class restrictions add artificial immersion in my personal experience. As for having played on roleplay realms in many games I have seen that people who want to play locked or “forbidden” races or classes are never stopped by the enforced limitations - simply making the class ooc fit the ic just allows these players to experience more freedom in expressing these characters.

That’s not even mentioning people rping something wildly different from their class. Player hates mage, but really wants to invest in a night elf sorcerer character. Priest is too shiny, shadow too dark, and balance wears leather. Player really loves warlock, though, so now they can comfortably find that ic and gameplay balance that they enjoy.

If there is a character I simply don’t agree with or find personally inappropriate to the scene I’m trying to run I just don’t worry about it. Might as well try to ban mammoth parades and gimmick bank alts.

Brutosaurs posted on top of a mailbox in Stormwind are more egregious and offensive to my sensibilities than a Draenei warlock.

While i understand what your coming from, your just going on extremes at the end of your post.

The request isn’t to stop players from playing what they want, but to give lore loving players a place to play with immersion without it breaking like with say void lf paladins or maghar warlocks running around like that annoying wood pecker pecking your house while your reading a book.

Just from a practical stand point I don’t think we will see immersion servers. That may be something that happens in classic, though. The fact they turned Ironman into a dedicated play mode makes that more realistic than another retail server mode.

I know you don’t want people bringing up classic, but that team seems to be the one creating these kinds of servers.

I think this is where we come to a misunderstanding. I’m not sure how you play and with what add-ons, but void elf “paladins” (in example) have been all over the server for me. That’s how they treat their character and how they present themselves.

The only difference between this and the inevitable unlock of classes is that those players will go from brown to pink in my raid frames.

Practically, we are playing a gane for entertainment. Practically they want to kerp us entertained or lose money. If we cannot be immersed in the game, we don’t get entertained, and thus, they lose money.

This is spam at this point.

If they want to play that fine, but a good group of the player base don’t want to see void elves tossing holy hammers around, as such the request is is made here for servers so we don’t have to tolerate that to play the game. And no, classic is not the answer to that.

Immersion servers like the one Great wants. RP servers are functionally the same as a PvE server sans layering in select areas.

Personally wouldn’t stop with just leaving the class restrictions, though. True darkness with the scrapped Survival skill. Weather that was more than just cosmetic (getting struck by lightning, blizzards slowing you down or reducing visibility). It’s an interesting idea, but I stand by it being a pipe dream for retail.

Classic is the only version of the game making themed servers. Retail is the one who lost one.

You’re being way over dramatic. This was going to be an obviously inevitable. Don’t play one if you don’t like it.

People had this same reaction to tauren paladins and all the other class combos…

Y’all will get over it eventually.

It does make sense for a player. Maybe not NPCs but players can be the exception as we are basically murder hobos for hire.

The “lore” as to why is your own choice to make and create.

Ordinarily I’d try to discuss the matter, but lore just is not worth discussing anymore though. More options is always great, just should have an in-game explanation than RP lore.

For instance you could say after witnessing the Naru being destroyed by illidan as well as how it tried to force destiny on him and how victory against the burning legion without it happened, your toon became disillusioned or maybe curious on what they missed out simply due to the indoctrination of the light likewise being forced upon them as the Naru tried to do to illidan made them curious to dabble in fel.

Or you use the light to force demons to your will or use them as misfit mercenaries held to your will through the fear of the light.

Though probably could get AI to make a story for a lightforged becoming a warlock xD

But I agree, a quest to explain would be wanted and needed.

I will venture a guess that by nature of RP servers there will organically more folks sticking to classic class/race combinations

Then you would be surprised by the type of class race combos the RP community comes up with, using what is currently already in the game. Sit in Valley of Honor on Wyrmrest Accord for a bit to see what I mean.

Yes and no. You’ll see lots of combos, but we all have rp profiles to set custom classes and race tags.

Your night elf warlock in all likelihood will be Kaldorei Seamstress.

I could live with that.

why cant nightelfs be paladins or humans be druids?

I know this was in response to Orctang, but… It really does not bother me at all. In fact ill sleep better at night knowing I am not playing with players who make a fuss over such asinine pointless things.

To give an example, Human Shamans already exist. Twilight Cultists are a thing.

Yall go prancing around about “The Lore” when, for starters, no race has ever truly been blocked from being a class outside of the “cultural norm” and there are plenty of exceptions in the world if you open your eyes and look around. Almost like different people, be them NPC’s or what have you, have different life choices that can deviate from societal norms and do not define said race just because it exists.

Next, and more important of all, Player Characters literally have no impact on the lore! What Race and Class is the Champion of Azeroth in the games written lore? Ill wait. Oh wait, that’s right, whenever the PC is depicted in the story its vague as heck to begin with. I would understand this argument if notworthy NPC’s started showing up with these new race/class combos but they are not. These changes are not changing the racial culture at all!

And while I can’t comment on Maghar Locks, I can comment that Lightforged Draenei literally have a Holy Demon on their ship. Who is to say that the warlocks for LFD don’t have holy demons in their service but due to resource limitations from the dev team just do not have assets that reflect that?

Cool. I don’t want to play with them either. Or see them in the world. Ya know. The entire reason i made this request.

2 races entire theme is fighting or running from demons, but they are ok cause they watched a guy do it.

1 race theme is all about not being currupted but they are ok about using fel/light now cause they watched a guy.

And that is not going into the inevitable VE/forsaken paladins.

Nope, cause that player had to come ftom one of those cultures.

After your toon spent over 10,000’s years fighting and seeing everything the fel can do?

Just as bad as hearing about an rp about a blue robotic vulpera from the planet earth.

Cool. Then your on page for lore servers. Except it’s not asinine. What is asinine is forcing players who enjoyed immersion in a game for years to all of the sudden have to tolerate blizzard looking at the lore and dumping out.

You came from somewhere, you didn’t just popped into existence.

The real reason? Because blizz hasn’t created the requisite art assets for a nelf pally mount and human druid forms…yet. That’s it. That’s the only reason.

“lore”… You do realize time marches on and classes would NOT stay restricted to certain races right?

i was referring to the lore argument.
