…how is that any better?
Because I’m smiling, Ard!
It also comes across as spite for spites sake.
I reserve my spite for those that truly deserve it. You don’t fit the bill, Ard. Sorry.
Either way personal judgements on others won’t accelerate any discussion around account wide ignores.
Part of what was attractive to me about WoW, is that it was an online world that was popular, and was one of the few places where I could feel beyond gender, race, age, and countless arbitrary things that I have to live by in the real world, in fairness, these days on many forms at doctors where you don’t have to disclose your gender as M or F if you don’t want to, so there’s a bit more flexibility in the real world now, but that’s a case in point,
For the longest time wow was a great place for me to escape from the world and all it’s problems, I think wow at the time was pretty much a form of escapism.
The fact that so many people are saying they want to block the PERSON behind the screen makes me feel uncomfortable.
There’s nothing to accelerate, Ard. We’re all just killing time at this point.
Gosh, that must be tough to deal with.
Well I don’t play games on the internet where I can be anonymous just for the fun of it, I play it to get away from the real world and all the expectations from people in the real world you know?
Have you considered yoga, or transcendental meditation?
yeah being a decent Human is hard right?
Yeah, it’s the person behind the screen who’s the problem, hence why I would want to block them.
But I don’t want people to associate the alt I am using online with my real self or the person behind the screen at all
Have you considered trying to be the kind of person people want to associate with?
I mean, like… really trying to make an effort, you know?
Just because I might (theoretically) block you as a person, doesn’t mean I’d be able to identify who you are.
I don’t want to block someone’s alt just for them to get on another alt and bypass the block
They always will. Nobody is foolish enough to think your toon exists in a vacuum and isn’t controlled by a real person.
But RPG games are about being who you’re not.
This could be done with or without account wide ignores.
I prefer Tai Chi.
If FF14 has bought about some kind of account wide ignore, I fear the same thing could happen with wow…
I’m not scared about going back to FF14 though, as here is the thing, there is a 66.7% probability that someone in WoW is much more likely to say something that will cause me to lose my temper and risk reputation damage than in FF14, in that game people are nice and don’t annoy me
