He’s still running his mouth?
Do you think if the creator of a thread had special rights at least that would help? Personally I don’t think that’s the best solution, we already have too many people in this world in my opinion that just want to stick to their own little echo chambers and whatnot.
I do have a story if you’d like to hear it. Also, please keep in mind I know some of my posts been buried, but at this stage Blizzard been restoring them, so I appreciate them for that, but nonetheless I would like to say that I am doing my best to just stick to the arguments and not be deliberately offensive or whatever.
Anyway, I remember when the internet first became mainstream, because I grew up in a somewhat religious family, I had a very strong sense of right/wrong back in those days. So I come online, tell people that they sinful if they not being faithful in their marriages or whatever, I was called a closed-minded fool. And tbh, I was back in those days, I think I’ve learned that life is much more complex than a series of black and white rules of what we should and shouldn’t do.
Have you ever heard of Dr Phil’s 10 rules of life, the most important one is rule 3, that people are always going to do what works. They aren’t going to stick to some black and white religious morality, the unfortunate reality is that some people that even do behaviors we consider destructive wouldn’t be doing it if they didn’t have some kind of pay off. Yes there is rule 8 which is basically saying we teach people how to treat us, but rule 9 is more important, how there is power in forgiveness etc.
You know one common thing a lot of wow players seem to say is “respect has to be earned”, I think that goes back to what happened between Vol’jin/Garrosh, but in my opinion, everyone should get basic respect and kindness until they forfeit it. But generally I’m not comfortable with this ‘respect has to be earned’ mentality, what does it even mean, does it mean we treat everyone like crap until they ‘earn’ our respect, I don’t think that’s a good path forward.
I just think we’ve become a society where we have moved too much towards sticking to our own cliques, rather than listening to different people and ideas. It’s not a good path forward in my opinion.
Didn’t even read it
It’s the same three people replying. Two of which I’m pretty sure are the same person. Just goes to show exactly why this is such a needed feature at this point. It’s on literally every other Blizz forum, so it should be here as well.
“BOTH SIDES” isn’t gonna work here
You are STILL posting an awful lot of text that has nothing to do with the thread.
And for someone who spoke out about privacy, you seem to be tossing out quite a bit of unsolicited personal information.
To go back to my first post from way above…
Ignores should be account wide, both in-game AND on the forums.
In my brain it’s not personal because you don’t know my real life name etc.
Also I don’t like the word ‘unsolicited’ it’s just a fancy word that makes people sound like criminals. I wish people would just say ‘unwanted information’ that would be better.

/ˌənsəˈlisədəd/
adjective
adjective: unsolicited
- not asked for; given or done voluntarily.
I think that pretty much covers “unwanted”.
Yeah but the word ‘unsolicited’ makes you sound like a criminal, ‘unwanted’ is just a fact.
Tomato, Tomahto.
Perception issue.
Still has nothing to do with the thread.
No. It makes YOU sound like a criminal for forcing your unwanted information on everyone else.
But you could just ignore it by not responding to me or my posts.
Most of people respond to me in a way that’s unsolicited to me. So who is right who is wrong?
Just don’t read it.
There’s always the option to… you know… ignore them.
More fun to say I didn’t read your wall of text
Maybe itll help you learn to stop posting giant walls of text
You forfeited yours.
Have a nice day!
This is loaded with naivete.
/facepalm
I think it’s a complete inversion of reality to think that by encouraging more open debate, exposure to people from different races and cultures and their customs, we would become anything less than a more tolerant inclusive society,
If anything I would argue that open debate would help us be more likely to deal with income inequality, environmental degradation, racial and gender discrimination and so on, of course not all of these are relevant to WoW but some of them are,
Anyway are we really at the point where we think the ‘come debate me!’ types are all a bunch of intolerant racist morons?
I get that the challenges of today aren’t easy, I accept that in the Western world we unfortunately seem to be at a point where policy makers can no longer catch up with the digital, dynamic world we live in, but this is all the more reason why I believe debate shouldn’t be censored, because otherwise you will have people just separate into their own different tribes/communities.
I suppose that might not necessarily be a bad thing though, certainly not for my own mental health if I just surround myself with a bunch of yes men and women that get along with me and like me…but would that be good for a company trying to attract players from all wakes of life?
