Ok, lets remove the char-server and make it so we’re posting from our BattleTag. Guess what, the harassment will be extremely minimal, because it will be just 1 account, and 1 ignore.

Then person B ignores and reports for ongoing harassment which I assure you Bliz takes very seriously.

we do not want our private account information being put on display on the forums for gold sellers to spam our bnets for sales.
If that person tries to open new accounts for all this, After 2-3 tries blizzard will probably catch on, and stop letting that IP or payment method create new accounts. Then good luck playing wow ever again.

Your BTag is not private account information. It is a public nickname used for your BNet account.

Blocking certain IPs or payment methods from creating a new account isn’t really that hard to do.
my btag is private information that allows people to contact me in game without even knowing any of my characters.
It’s so private that anyone who encounters you in the world can find out what it is and send a request.

my btag is not public outside of the game…and that’s where most of the harrassers are going to come from.
You do not know how BTags work to make a comment like that one.

Neither, because no-one can harass you via btag without you expressly giving consent for them to contact you via btag.

You should be able to ignore an entire account instead of a single character, I’d only have 2 people on my ignore list instead of 8, I’m sure the problem is obvious by this thread alone

no, account wide ignores facilitate the finding of alts and allows harrassment.
But you seem to enjoy harassment people can do with a char-server.
I mean, lets put it this way, with an actual fact:
You can not harass or stalk anyone using BattleTags.
Why? Because first in order to even contact someone via BTag, you first have to be friends with the person, and only from there, may they contact you after you have accepted them as friends. Otherwise, if nobody can contact you, then nobody is able to harass you.
PLUS, People aren’t willing to go an extra step through with BTags on unacceptable behaviour, as the risk is far more greater than being silenced in game.
