Can we get account wide ignore?

It’s 5x more expensive is what it is.

Correct me if I’m wrong but can like and flag posts here without needing a WoW sub?

I’m pretty sure that any access to any non-CS forum required a sub.

It’s odd that you assume so many people are interested in “blacklisting” you, and that so many others are mindless drones who’ll listen to anything without judging your posts on their merits.

(Especially when everyone can clearly see numerous threads when people advise against feeding certain trolls not accusing you, just in general and everyone just keeps at it like a soup kitchen at thanksgiving.)

IDK… Just make forums unviewable for players not being logged in…

Though, I admit that straight out would cause another problem and that is people actually searching for help with the game on the web. Like googling quest help… So you may be right.

Yeah, part of what spawned all these forum improvement ideas is the question “how can we patch as many of the current abuse cases as possible without hurting the intended use case the forums have?”

The best solution found so far is single account identity, with different toons being flavor attached to that single profile.

Think what really just needs to be done is Blizz actually hire some Forum Mods that only job is to monitor chat and act when appropriate. Because currently, you can flag a player over and over for them stalking you, but it does nothing. Its like the old song. “The lights are on, but no ones home.”

The problem with that is the potential volume of posts/comments, and also the need for it to happen round the clock.

That is because you can’t fully ignore the harassment when people can switch between alts.

The biggest issue, in my opinion, is that the blue post already gave us an option for getting away from someone who is harrassing them and that is “swapping characters.”

so there is currently already a method of removing yourself from the situation by changing characters.

so what is the problem with account wide ignore, then?

well, it’s quite simple… if person A is harrassing person B on the forums, then person B uses the blue suggestion and switches toons. person A now puts the original character of person B on ignore.

if we have account wide ignore, then person A can just sift through the forums to find another toon that is on their ignore list… Boom, person A just found person B and can continue the harrassment.

it is for this reason that i simply cannot support account wide ignores…

account wide ignore just facilitates harrassment.

you have the option provided to you by the blue post: you switch characters and the harrasser cannot find you.

If there was account-wide ignore, why wouldn’t person B put person A on ignore? It would be account-wide so person A couldn’t keep harassing person B.

They’re another alt btw they just want to defend harassment as usual

Don’t take the bait

person A could then just put person B on ignore… find person B’s alts and then make a new account to circumvent person B’s ignore. then person A can continue the harrassment

if we keep the forums as they currently are: person B simply switches characters, person A has no method of finding them… and the problem is solved.

adding account-wide ignore just makes it easier for harrassers to find alts and continue their harrassment.

It comes down to someone who likes the bypass so much that they don’t want to fix the core issue that would render the bypass unnecessary.

oh so because i pointed out a flaw in your account wide ignore system, you insult me by saying i like to bypass the ignore?

oh so i present an opinion that disagrees with you and you assume i must be an alt?

why do you feel the need to insult me?

Like as some people know, I work with actual children

They can understand and make better arguments than the person jumping on multiple alts to get around ignores saying account wide ignores is toxic and harassment

People can find out which characters are yours by looking at third party sites and match pet army.

A person shouldn’t have to switch characters and
swap and earn trust level 3 multiple times.

Not to mention they loose post count creditbility.

It’s not a resolved harassment problem. Someone shouldn’t have to drop a character they enjoy posting on either.

Can you link this post please.

I don’t expect a real answer, but will be interested if they provide one. I just want to clear up any confusion in case someone walks into this thread and reads what they said.

That doesn’t work the way you think it does. If person A puts B on ignore, how would they find all their alts if they can’t see them? Even if they could, person B ignoring person A, then person A making a new account to bypass that ignore, can be ignored by person B again.

do you not understand how the ignore feature works?

you can still see “hidden message”, then click on it.

person A puts peson B on ignore, then looks all around the forums to find more messages that are “hidden” and uses that tool to find person B’s alts.

You supposed flaw comes with the feature where hiding becomes unnecessary. If you can just true account wide ignore everyone, how are they able to continue to contact you while on ignore?
