Can we get a dimmer switch for Hallowfall?

While yes, that’s a solution, I shouldn’t have to do that for one zone, and then immediately change it back to normal when leaving that zone.

Especially when the game has in-game items to reduce the brightness.

I’m not asking them to reduce the brightness for everyone. If you like Hallowfall as bright as it is, it should remain that way for you. I just want the option for myself to not have it be bright and have Shadescale or Inky Black Potion work in that zone.

Or heck, make a new toy that makes the crystal in Hallowfall always shadow. That’d probly be the easiest solution since they most likely did not create additional lighting assets for the day/night cycle like other zones.

Nah. It’s got ONE thing going for it. Otherwise it’s another boring Arathi type zone. You no take crystal!

Hallowfall with an HDR display is a sight to behold. Any desire to lessen its glory is Nightfall talk, and we do not abide that here.

The reason why the Inky Black Potion (can’t test the Shadescale as I don’t have that one) doesn’t work in some zones is that it replaces the skybox and if the skybox is set to function differently than normal (I don’t know how exactly but some skyboxes are), then the effect doesn’t work.

One can test how it works with different skyboxes by using the engineering toy Environmental Emulator and see what weather effects you can overlay over the zone’s skybox. See below for some examples (Icecrown, Twisting Nether, and Felstorm in descending order):

As you can see, the zone doesn’t change that much, because the Skybox is set up in such a way where it interacts with the zone. Again, I have no idea how this works behind the scenes, but we can’t replace it.

The Inky Black Potion is a full-on replacement effect as far as I can tell. Which means that if you have your game (or monitor) set up so bright lights become that bright for ya’… the only thing one can realistically do is change your settings so they work better for you.
I hate bright light and I prefer when things are dark, but zones like Bastion or Hallowfall, I have no issues with. Because I have changed my settings so these zones, and other games, doesn’t blind me. My recommendation is to play around with your monitor settings and especially the contrast, as that’s’ typically the thing that lead to the most sudden blinding experiences.

All of my settings are set to around or below 20 normally, but just to try something new I boosted it up to 40 and 30s for Hallowfall to test it. If you have this kind of an issue, I’d recommend looking into what your monitor’s settings are and see if you can’t make them better for you.

If you want to turn down the light in Hallowfall, talk to the lady next to the orphans. She’ll dim the light for an hour. But at a price.

Of all of the problems that never were…

What’s that engineering(?) toy that lets you switch the environment? I can’t remember the name right now. Does it work in Hallowfall?

I get that it’s a gameplay reason, but the areas not hit directly by Beledar should be MUCH darker than they are. Makes me laugh at the frightened Arathi who are cowering in what amounts to shade, not darkness.

That’s not how light works.

The inside of my barn isn’t in pitch darkness when the barn door is open. Those overhung sections of Hallowfall have their entire sides open to the rest of the cavern where Beledar is shining. Shade is appropriate.

Turn down for what?

Can you tell me what lady you mean?

If I could have this shader running 24/7 I would, but I would also love the game to have actual night cycles that look like actual night as we can see with the Inky Black Potion

Oh, and as an Alchemist, I want to make this potion
