Can we finally get playable the high elves? (Part 1)

I’m going to be honest Blood Elves ARE indeed High Elves, but having a High Elf race whether on the alliance or neutral like the Earthen, Dracthyr, or Pandaren be playable would be awesome. With their own unique models and animations as we don’t need another copy paste BE model still calling themselves High Elves while also upholding their traditions and Culture like the BE do would be great. (please don’t come at me I really just want more elves lmao) (also a side note I love all the elves (mostly BE tbh) with the exception of the NB i don’t really like them all that much.) (another side note sorry me personally I don’t really count the VE as HE anymore as they became void tainted, but I can also understand that they are just as much a HE as the BE this is just what I personally believe)

High elves as a playable race add literally nothing to the game. I know nobody want’s to hear it but it’s the truth.

It’d be great to see their models be based off of Vanilla NPCs - modernized to hd quality with better, younger looking faces

or take inspiration from some High Elf models from Reforged

Maybe so, but tbh neither do the Vulpera and we still got them and it would still be better than another Dwarf in my opinion. Also I stated that I just want more elves i love playing as elves lol.

The Vulpera actually bring a lot to the table; putting aside the fact that they’re another small race for horde players, they’re an interesting race owing to their nomadic culture.

By comparison High elves are basically just… They’re like weebs but instead of being obsessed with japan they’re obsessed with human culture. So if you wanted to play as one the easiest way would be to slap the pointy ear option on a human model and then insist that you’ve perfected your “cosplay”.

I mean sure I can see where you’re coming from, but I feel like the Sethrakk would’ve made more sense to add. What I mean regarding the High Elves is I think they could potentially write them back into the story where we set off to scout out an uncharted island and find a High Elf society on it where they decided to split away from the human culture obsession and decided to find their own culture and preserve it while also keeping some pieces of the High Elves lore and their old culture and maybe make them neutral such as the pandaren where you do a storyline and the high elves can be either horde or alliance. I personally feel like that could be a nice way to add High Elves without making them a carbon copy of humans or blood elves making them somewhat original while also hinting towards their past lore before becoming the different elf races while also retaining the name of “High Elves”. Especially right now as the friction between the Horde and Alliance are starting to die down I think it would be a great time to add a neutral elven race that doesn’t particularly follow the beliefs of any of the current elven races and they follow they’re own beliefs thus making them neutral.

High elves should be closer to their Kaldorei origins and be more attuned with nature. Celtic blue tattoos, feathers and emphasis on arcane. That would be distinguishable from the more aggressive culture of Blood elves.

Absolute nonsense. You can say this about literally any race someone could ask for. It means nothing. What value did Mag’har orcs add? What did Lightforged Draenei bring to the game? Whats the point in Earthen being playable?

At the end of the day, it all boils down to aesthetics. And you might try to say, “oh, well Void Elves and Blood Elves already give the High Elf aesthetic,” and sure… but only partially… it currently isn’t possible to play as an Alliance High Elf Paladin because Blizzard refuses to give Void Elves access to Paladin… same goes for High Elf Demon Hunter… (which, technically speaking all Blood Elf Demon Hunters were, there is even dialog from a few in Legion expressing shock that their brethren joined the Horde during their absence… so it stands to reason that some might still choose to return to the Alliance)… and even with the options that do exist through Void Elves, you have to deal with that obnoxious blueberry form popping up every 10-20 seconds in combat, and the active racial skill is very clearly Void themed still…

People want proper High Elves because Blizzard won’t limit their class access for arbitrary reasons, and the Aesthetics extend to more than just a skin choice…

We have high elves. Blood Elves and Void Elves are both High Elves. Why would they give us what we already have?

It will be funny if Midnight that’s suppose to “unite the elves” ends up creating High Elves by merging the Void Elves back into the Blood Elves and call both High Elves making it a neutral race like Pandarian or Dracthyr.

I wonder then if these High Elves proponents would then be satisfied.

The elves of Quel’Thalas (BE, HE, VE…) could also rename their people in honor of this reunification.

and the award for most likes I’ve ever seen goes to…DREXIGAN. Wow, almost 300.

Friggin High Elf threads, mayn

That being said, I don’t see a huge issue with Blizzard doing something simple like changing the name of “void elf” to “high elf” just to appease the people who keep asking. They already basically copied the Blood Elves for the Alliance, anyways.

The only thing that distinguishes them in any real way is that they prioritized relationships with humanity over everythign else. That’s it. That’s the head, the tail the whole damn fish.

This isn’t even going into how it would be the third time that the rig is being trotted out or how it would mean we’d have a fifth elf.

There are already 3 playable dwarf races (+ wildhammer customizations)…

And earthen went over like a lead balloon despite having more distinct characteristics and history then the high elves people have been mewling for for 20 years.

High elves are very popular compared to dwarves.

High elves are the second most devoid of merit race to give to players as an option.

Because literally the only thing that distinguishes them is that their attachment to someone elses culture.

I don’t understand why this keeps popping up. The blood elves are the high elves! lol
