High Elf supporters would only be as stiffed as any other race that didn’t get chosen - and while we’re here talking up high elves - there other races still waiting in the wings. But your argument that there are too many elves because there are 4 flavours glosses over the fact that no one is making the complaint there are too many humans - who have the same number of flavours.
Maybe no one is making that complaint because, when all is said and done, the 4 flavors of human are unique enough that some can see them as 4 flavors of human, and others see them as 4 unique cultures and everything.
But if you really want to play that card, then we actually have 4 flavors of Human, 2 flavors of Night Elf and 2 Flavors of High Elf already.
What is the difference between a Blood elf, a Void Elf and a High Elf when you can make any of them look like the others? Why can’t thoe ones that want High Elves make a Blood or Void elf but have personal lore that states they are a High Elf? Maybe what those arguing for High Elves should argue for is the ability to choose how they want to be addressed by NPC, liek Hail High Elf instead of Hail Blood/Void Elf.
Drive-by posting:
High Elves for the Alliance!
Never say die
!
(I have a whole village mapped out and ready to go for them too!)
First off - Blizzard doesn’t need playable characters on opposing sides to have visible differences - they threw that out with neutral races entirely. Pandas look the same - except when they decide to wear faction specific armor.
I’d even argue that noticeable visual differences between different playable races is unrequired - most people couldn’t tell the difference between a fully clothed High Mountain or Regular Tauren unless they were really looking. Or the difference between Lightforged and Regular Draenei.
So why are we pretending that’s required for high elves all of a sudden?
We don’t need a 3rd identical race.
*4th - I didn’t include dwarves even though Dark Irons are basically the same Ironforged - except their hair is occasionally on fire.
No High Elves.
Yes to more customization for all races. There should be 50 hair and eye colors by now. Tons of different hair styles, tattoos, mustaches, etc…why isn’t THIS talked about more?
And you just keep digging yoruself deeper, my point wa snot that looking different was required, it was that everything that those that want High Elves want is already in the game.
To put it in perspective, Blizzard could decide to merge Blood Elves and Void Elves into 1 race, call that High Elves, and make the Horde/Alliance split be based on where they get their “power”. The result would be a bit of a poison pill for those of us that LIKE out Blood/Void elf toons in an attempt to please a group of whiney brats that need to have things their way and only their way.
Keep in mind, this is BLIZZARD we are talking about, what are the chances they would try something like that only to wind up pissing off a majority of their player base to try and cater to a small minority?
Hence why I am actually ambivalent on High Elves being added, but I don’t trust Blizzard to cater to one group without pissing off the rest of us.
Don’t feed the troll, just let him talk alone and the thread be buried again, time to time we have the seasonal windowlickers asking for a race that is already in the game for 17 years
Notice how in the character creation screen - they have body types 1 and 2 instead of male/female. They have catered to small vocal minorities in the past.
Blood Elves are the High Elves, and they live in Quel’Thalas.
They are important members of the Horde and anything else besides these facts are just people whining for about 18 years.
Sometimes the right saying is the squeaky wheel gets the grease, other times it is more then nail that sticks up gets pounded, guess which one most people are feeling with the High Elf Argument.
This argument has always been a marathon - not a sprint… the more threads like this are kept alive - the more it will create an impression that this is something Blizzard should look into. 482 users + 722 minute read - shows an interest - even if no one is going to sit through and read all of it at this point.
I follow these threads now, just to be reminded there are people who are insane. ![]()
Don’t get enough of a reminder in the real world?
482 users, assuming no sockpuppets, out of a few million players is hardly a groundswell of support.
And how many users actually use the forums - and how many of those who use the forums comment any topic in particular?
Its based off of the truth. Most people I talk to don’t care one way or another and I only see the same small group of people ever in any of these threads.
For the vast majority of people who play wow. No one cares. lol
As for my threads, I don’t think even the majority of belf or helf players bother looking into that. They’re all much too interested in fighting each other in other threads.
You want playable high elves?
Come to my house, bring snacks.
I think at this point what I want is just some additional customizations. But thats a triple benefit in my book.
Like say tattoos. That will give me more options for my Void, Blood and High Elves. More hairstyles, jewelry, faces, and such can help all three.
Now I also want a bunch of specific things for my void elves though. >.> Like starcursed hair, additional eyes, more voidy skin tones that are a little more than different shades of blue. The void wings from the transmog made into customization.
Edit: I thought of something I do want specifically for my high elves. Thats little feather adornments for their hair or something.
