That sounds suspiciously like the behind-the-scenes conversation that led to Horde Civil War 2.0 and the current lore dumpster fire.
You would have to be a fool to not understand that the Sunwell is the blood elves biggest weakness.
That doesnât mean that bringing back the mana-crack-addict storyline YET AGAIN is a good idea.
Seriously. One of my handful of non-undead toons is a Belf Warlock. Complete with the verdant spheres esque fel shards glyph.
I absolutely love the aesthetic of this SinâDorei sorcerer raining down fel and phoenix fire over all in his way. I would be a very happy man if I could get a glyph that turned my internal into a Phoenix.
Itâs very weird to me we havenât seen more Blood Mages. Presumably there was more than just KaelâThas.
⌠again?
Edit: actually, it is much quicker to list the races that havenât been âTeldrassilâdâ than those that have. Near extermination of entire nations, races, and even planets is kind of Blizzardâs thing.
List:
- The dwarves
Edit: I guess I should address the OP. I used to agree with you, but now I am cautious of anything that would make it so easy to villain-bat a Horde race again. If we go down your suggested road, the next thing we know itâs Vampire LorâThemar as Warchief and a raid on Silvermoon after the Blood Elves genocide the remaining Dranei or something.
Iâm pretty sure that the verdant sphere glyph got removed in Legion.
Itâs the only time we have had any flavor and it shows us that there are consequences our actions. Only a disciplined elf wouldnât become wretched and now there is no discipline and there are no consequences.
I will put a shirt over you.
You wouldnât dare.
Theyâre fel shards. More green diamonds than spheres but close enough.
I was just livid when I found out only I could see them. I guess itâd be a big tactical disadvantage in PvP if other players could see how many soul shards I had, but surely Blizz could make it so everyone just sees the standard three floating behind him.
I ⌠donât ⌠care. I donât want the kind of flavor the current writing team would give us.
Once again, that sounds like the rationale that led to MoP 2.0. And I hate MoP 2.0 so, so, so much.
Then I guess the best thing we can do is just to agree to disagree and move on.
Right, I must have misread what you wrote. It is a shame that our verdant sphere glyph got removed.
True. I think Destro lock works better than Fire mage for the Blood Mage feel. I get mage is literally in their description but Blood Mages were very clearly dabbling with dark magics.
Though both work I guess. Realistically theyâre more of a combo of those two than either or.
I will say I do like your inclusion of fel with the blood elves. Itâs a shame it wasnât capitalized on from the start.
The forsaken potentially had the worldâs foremost authority on fel magic with Varimathras. There could have been a potential story there which would have drawn the forsaken and blood elves closer rather than push them away with Sylvanas.
Itâs still very weird to me the Nightborne are depicted as the wizard race, when the Blood Elves have been hanging around for a decade.
Like before them the Horde having a janky portal network makes sense. The only proper wizards in the Horde ranks came from the Forsaken who would probably have a pretty meh approach to workplace health and safety. If a crappy portal accidentally teleports their body to two places in two different pieces itâll just be an annoying day for a Forsaken, not an agonizing death.
So were the Magisters just using their own portal network on the low? Like if the Horde had this ghetto, dangerous portal system itâs weird the Belves never did anything about it.
Like donât get me wrong Blood Knights and Farstriders are cool. But the Horde already had physical combat pretty locked down. They did not have magicians with millenia of experience and practice so - odd that wasnt the Belves selling point to the Horde.
Iâd say roll a Void Elf, seeing as how they took all the cool dark magic thematics typically associated with Blood Elves and made it their racial theme and their backstory basically means the Blood Elves will never have that theme back as core to their culture aside from Warlocks or Demon Hunters who are treated like outcasts in their society.
Opposite faction is there for you and whatnot, just like I would have to play Horde if I wanted to be a Light-flavored elf.
? Blood Elves are the most used Horde race, period. They are honestly overused, as they are actually almost everywhere, all the time. For a race thatâs way less than 10% of their population before Arthas stomped them, there sure are a lot of them aroundâŚ
As I clarified, itâs the difference between individual Blood Elves showing up (which, I agree, happens fairly oftenâmostly with Liadrin) and story about the Blood Elves as a group. Like the way people draw a distinction in Legion between Alliance NPCs taking the lead in the story and a story about The Alliance.
I said it earlier in this thread, but Iâm increasingly getting irritated by her being our representation. Can we instead get some time for Rommath? Halduron? Build Aethas up?
He didnât really give it to Dalaran? He gave it to the best Mage in the world (which, in my campaign, was literally a Belf).
Unless thereâs a canon universe where he somehow handed it to the Kirin Tor? Because I simply remember him fleecing his way (and assumedly his Sunreaversâ) back into their home by not actually giving jack back to Dalaran.
Nathanos is a level of condescension thatâs absolutely god awful. Rommath is snarky. I find there to be a difference.
Again, Rommath is usually snarky towards situations in general, while Nathanos is just consistently rude to a whole different level, while also serving his waifu the Banshee Queen who was set up as a villain. Is Lorthemar getting hit by the villain bat anytime soon?
