Can we be done with these types of expansion cinematics, please

The comic book death rule: Nobody stays dead except Uncle Ben.

What I find hilarious is the implication that most players don’t just skip all of the cinematics. Might as well make them for the people who care about the game’s story at all, and most of those people do want to see the moments in time in between the big flashy showy stuff.

You have a link to a trailer that isn’t a fake trailer from some random youtuber i have never heard of (or at least a video of marvel or RDJ confirming this)?

TBF, no matter what side, it would be an issue. Be able to appeal to a broad audience requires one to be exposed to multiple viewpoints, even those you may disagree with. The ability to empathize with a character who holds values in opposition of yours is what allows you to understand their motivations and write them authentically rather than create a caricature.

Saurfang going to Thrall shows a Thrall who believes himself removed from what’s happening. That the burden of leadership is no longer his to bear. But even before he realizes the assassins are there to kill him and not Saurfang, he’s still Thrall at his core and is ready to join the fight.

The cinematic ends with a Thrall people can hold up as a heroic icon.

Anduin in the teaser reminds me more of Like Skywalker in The Last Jedi. A sad sack who might as well have blue-green milk dribbling from his beard. It doesn’t end in an Anduin that inspires heroism or hope.

Same thing with Saurfang’s cinematic arc. Saurfang started out resigned but ended with him cast in an inspirational light. That is the role of the epic hero.

Anduin may have an arc, but they aren’t telling it right. And the main character stories are suppose to happen alongside our own. We work alongside these characters as ignoble heroes in our own right, but they have to be characters worth following. The Anduin in this trailer is not, just like The Last Jedi Luke Skywalker wasn’t a Jedi master worth learning under.

The more I think about it, if Metzen still has it, this is Blizzard’s Jon Favreau moment. If Metzen has the talent, he could right the ship and all they would have to do is stand back and let him have full control over the narrative, theme and tone. Like Favreau revitalized Star Wars for two seasons of the Mandalorian. (Good Ending)

Or like Disney/Lucasfilm, Blizzard could derail him and basically create yet another catastrophe where fans migrate from anger (and still caring) to utter apathy (in which case they’re lost forever) and WoW drops to Mandalorian Season 3 and Ahsoka numbers. (Bad Ending)

Or Metzen could be like Prequels Lucas and have really great ideas and bad ideas and needs decent people to tell him what is a bad idea. (Worst Ending)
