Can we admit the game is too easy now?

You got people getting KSH within hours of the season launching.

RWF was done in like 3 days.

People are beating the ?? delve boss in the first couple hours.

… can we admit that the game is too easy now? The people who were crying about the game being too complex obviously were not being genuine, and the game is now just a pushover. Even mythic is being run over.

This content is called endgame for a reason. It should last more than 3 days.

Good. That’s how WoW became popular in the first place, by being casual-friendly and streamlined compared to older MMOs. I remember that in Dark Age of Camelot you lost some experience and items when you died, while you don’t in WoW.

I’m happy they removed addons, I’m happy they pruned classes, I’m happy they stopped listening to sweat lords who should just go play League of Legends. This is WoW and WoW was always a game for casuals.

There is a difference between being braindead easy, and simply not being masochistic tedium like the ancient history MMOs.

Let’s not pretend bud.

WoW had its HIGHEST SUB COUNT EVER in one of the most complex design periods in its history. But we’ll just ignore that I guess.

You people didn’t support more difficult MMOs so difficulty died

Some people will accomplish their goals more quickly than usual and unsub early.

Others will repeat their goals on a bunch of alts or push for goals a bit beyond that which they usually aim for, resulting in them staying subbed longer.

Whether the game is “too easy” or not will be determined by which one of these groups is bigger.

I loved Wildstar, it had the best encounter designs in any MMO I’ve played.

But at the same time, it had a significant lack of content, and the class design sucked horribly. So I did Datascape, and then I got bored once the novelty wore off. Ship missions coulda been cool 'cause they were procedural, but the classes were just not fun in a vacuum. It’s a problem that a lot of MMOs have.

You spend most of your time in combat, so combat needs to be fun.

You thought a lot of people quit halfway through TWW, I have a feeling it’ll be a lot worse in Midnight.

WoW’s peak was with Wrath which is universally considered to be the start of the Retailification of the game. Even now Classic purists scoff at the idea of Wrath Classic because they think it’s when the game started becoming Retail.

Posting in a Neko thread.

The difficulty of the game is fine right now. I think they likely made this initial season easier than previous ones because of the changes to the game surrounding classes and addons. I would expect Season 2 to be a bit tougher in all avenues of the game.

WoW’s peak was the Cata prepatch (which was the beginning of good class design). And continued into Cata’s first patch.

The population before then was less than half.

I wonder why.

Can you people please stop being such pushovers?

Just play Ranked Arena if you want a proper challenge in this game.

Click on person, push two buttons to do damage.

I don’t see the challenge. MMO PvP has always sucked outside of action MMOs.

Too easy perhaps, but still too hard for you because you choose not to engage in hard content. And your parses are low for easy content already.

It also advertised HEAVILY.

TO THIS DAY, the Ozzy/ MrT/ etc commercials are still quoted and memed. There was a Ford commercial. It was a question on “Jeapordy!” There was a series of 4 “collectible” cups from convenience stores. And I’m sure there was more I’m forgetting off the top of my head right now.

It was omnipresent. And the more people know about it, the more someone might say “hmmm I’ll try that out.”

It was also the culmination of, arguably, the best/most popular story arc Blizzard ever came up with, stretching back to its RTS roots.

I could post at least 10 other things, but it’s enough to say: if all you want to focus on is “it was popular when it was harder”, you’re making one of the weakest arguments I’ve seen on these boards in a long time-- and that’s saying something.

People quit halfway through S3 because there wasn’t any new content after Lemix. M+ alone will never be enough to keep most people subbed all season. As content it’s too shallow. It works best as a side activity.

They want hard without the chance of losing

No one because the final raid isn’t out yet.

For the majority of players it will last for more than 3 days. Most people aren’t RWF raiders or no-lifers who grind everything out the very morning the content launches. It’s a good thing that the game has gotten a bit more accessible now. And I’m glad that Blizz toned it down a bit more for the very first season after major class reworks and changes to addons, I’d rather have that than them creating dungeons and raids that feel like a wall.

You call Wrath “the most complex design period”? Oh boy.

wtf are you even talking about, lol. The sub count of WotLK and Cata was almost the same and after Cata launched, it started to drastically fall down. One factor that people in the community widely hated was the difficulty of normal and heroic dungeons that was way too overtuned at release, to the point that Blizz had to step in later and nerf it.

Wasn’t that Wrath? The period people complain that it got super easy compared to TBC?

Thanks.

Can you stop complaining on the forums? Because that’s literally all you do.

It’s becoming meme-worthy at this point. Neko complaining on the forums? Must be a day ending with the letter ‘Y’.
