Like I understand mortal strike as someone hitting so hard that the wounds are so bad that you bleed and healing is more difficult or how a mage can conjure a fireball and hurl it at people but I don’t understand what judgment is. Like do you have a hammer in your pocket and you just toss it at people?? Also blade of justice doesn’t make sense to me either O_O
So judgement used to work on a seal system. Seals were self buffs that did different things like seal of wisdom helped you regain mana(rets attacks used mana back then). You would use a seal and then you would judge your target which was basically taking the seal you just buffed yourself with and then turned it into an attack that would put a debuff on your target. And based on the seal it depended on what happened.
To continue the example if you judged an enemy with seal of wisdom anyone attacking the target would gain mana back. So we had a few different seals we could use and blood elves had a seal only they had called Seal of blood. It basically made it so that when you attacked your target you took damage.
It was a good dps seal and it could kill you but if you were smart you learned how to use it to break cc. Anyway that’s how judgement came about but then blizzard removed seals and left judgement so now we just form a holy spell in the shape of a hammer and throw it at people.
Look at Ret like a Justice thematic spec, now remove all the punishments we could’ve done, because we don’t have the tools to actually punish anyone and you have it.
Essentially Paladins are Light summoners, tapping into the Light to summon object of light.
Like Hammers of light or Blades of Light ect.
Dude, you need to fcking get to hit cap already. You’ve completely missed the mark.
Sure!
retribution
noun
- punishment inflicted on someone as vengeance for a wrong or criminal act.
CRUSADE O’CLOCK BOIZ
How about arranging this into something that make sense.
He was asking about how Ret Paladins lore wise. He also brought up judgement.
So I told him what the judgement system was and how it became what it is today. So deal with it.
Don’t try to find logic within Wow’s Lore, we have tauren/troll paladins and Dhs who “mysteriously” consumed half of Warlocks’ demonology traits, space adventures and soon we’ll be merging with SC2 to fight Amon, apparently.
Err, I mean the Void Lords.
It is w/e at this point.
I kinda just think of the light as being similar to a green lanterns ring.
YES! BECAUSE JUSTICE!
exactly. the judgment/seal system is NOT an answer to his question.
After Legion, paladins became more magical than even mages.
What’s complicated about it?
The paladin judges you, and calls upon their god to smite you based on that judgment. That power is manifest through a spiritual hammer that they throw at you.
There are a lot of us that miss that system it gave us a unique flavor. And a lot of us want that system back.
It makes the target question their life choices. Kinda like an Adele song that makes you think about every relationship you ever had.
Listen you’re not understanding his question. OP is asking about the LORE of how Judgment works, how it functions in the Warcraft universe. NOT the gameplay mechanics of it.
Judges use gavels(hammers) in court. JUDGEMENT
Blades have historically been used to cut peoples heads off, especially witches.
BLADE OF JUSTICE
I guess when a God gets tired of our sh!t hes gonna send swirling storms of holy light to cleanse our foul world
DIVINE STORM
As we stand idly by awaiting our sentencing he will judge our peers and those deemed unfit will suffer his wrath (him being the Judge)
HAMMER OF WRATH
if they were to implement seals, please, just make it a talent. So people who dont want to waste a gcd every time can play the game without a 15 years old mechanic that is extremely clunky and move foward toward a more refined, synergistic version of the spec.
You clearly don’t know anything about warcraft lore, space have always play a part in warcraft lore. WC2 had the alliance go to an alien planet through a stargate, the dark portal. Trolls have paladin since vanilla, we just couldn’t play as 1 until the zandalari who have paladin during vanilla became available for players. As far as the cows go, they just needed to give horde another pally race so I dont have much to defend them. Demonology was just a ripoff of Demon Hunter because blizzard had no idea what to do with the spec so when Demon Hunters came out they have no choice but to give it to its rightful class.
To the OP, I’m just as confuse as any1 how paladin can conjure up weapons; for judgment I would assume we toss our own hammer like how Thrall did in WC3 but now we have blade of justice with the sword shooting out of the ground that we can’t really explain it.
I’m deff not an expert but you certainly don’t know as much as you think you do.
Using “magic” portals =/= flying to different worlds on a space ship. About vanilla troll paladins, there are a few druidish undead ncps, should we also add undead druid?
Regarding Dhs, by your logic warlocks should have death and decay and raise dead, not dks. Could have easily kept demo lock meta and just renamed it “fel infusion” or w/e. Btw, delete dhs horrible class.
