i like the more masculine blood elf guards in quel thalas tbh. when i was a kid i loved blood elves cause they looked boyish, but as i grew up i came to appreciate the trolls, dwarves, etc

Even the female elves in LotR look more manly than Blood Elves in WoW.

Should have. But they just simply don’t exist.

There are no male Blood Elves.
If you want proper facial hair on a Quel’dorei offshoot, the Alliance is waiting for you.
The fel thins their beards out almost completely. The Void Elves just have more because they are microscopic tentacles and not hair at all.
I’ve honestly never seen a Male Blood Elf before.

Aren’t male Blood Elves female Blood Elves who took steroids only to find out that not even that can make them masculine?
Having facial hair isn’t going to magically make you look more masculine. What kind of putz associates a beard or moustache with maleness?

As expected, a lot of people that don’t understand human proportions here or perhaps never have seen what an actual fit male looks like as opposed so a male that depends on steroids.

At the same time the entire thread is talking of proportions of races that have no real basis in real life but in a “fantasy” game, so logic sorta goes poof.
Granted, the cartoony style of WoW has always been iconic, but proportions still matter when working on the design of a character.
Out of all the male models, blood elves are the most accurately proportional to what a fit male would look like while maintaining the cartoony style and not looking like shaved gorillas (coughhumanscough).
But that somehow doesn’t make them “male enough”.

I never understood this position.
Male Blood Elves and Void Elves are the most attractive looking males in the game as far as I am concerned. Most guys IRL would kill for their physiques and they have a variety of face options from handsome to battleworn. A lack of facial hair does not make a man effeminate. The Thalassian male elf model is the closest to actual human proportions and traditionally attractive human male appearance. Shadowlands should give Male Blood Elves more facial hair options if that’s your primary concern.
Personally I wish I had an alternative for the Stormwind Human model. It looks like a neanderthal steroid junkie with ham hocks for hands and all the face options look 40-50+ years old. At least face-wise there might be some hope coming in Shadowlands with the customization additions, but body wise it’s still going to be “steroid junkie”.
